Internet Law Compliance
There are all sorts of Horror Stories about people being shut down by the
FTC or other Government Agencies because of their Ignorance of The Law.
Most of these folks were not intentionally breaking the Law in their own
mind.... but the Government Agents don't care. All they care about is
nailing the offender so their own resume' looks good.
These stories run from simple Website Shutdowns to actual Seizure of
Property and Bank Accounts as well as Jail Sentences. These are TRUE
HORROR STORIES that are FACT, not fiction.
Now here is the good part.
Probably 80% of the Websites on the Internet Today are in violation in
some way and You could be Targeted at any moment if You have a Website. Do
you want to learn how to protect yourself? Of course.
There is an e-Book that can help you along the way. It is called "Internet
Law Compliance" and is available here.

Here is the Introduction to the Book.
The book, and the reports that accompany it, are short, simple
explanations of what you need to do to go about your business on the
Internet knowing you are fully complying with current legal and commercial
requirements. This will be a fun and rewarding experience for you despite
what you may be dreading!
Every attempt has been made to take the morass of gnarly theories, laws
and regulations governing the Internet and reduce them to a handful of
"rules" and forms that are easy to understand, easy to use, easy to set
up, and most importantly, easy to integrate into your website so that you
are 100% compliant.
The Internet was designed not just to be functional, but to be fun as
well.
Nothing you will read here should be looked upon as a hindrance to your
enjoying this powerful way of fostering relationships between seller and
buyer, associations and members, government and people, information
suppliers and information seekers.
The Internet is an easy, low-cost and low-risk way for you to begin making
money with what was once just a passion or hobby. It's also a great way to
expand your local storefront to the whole world of potential buyers and a
great way to nurture your own customer base. And it's a great way to get
your point of view out to millions of visitors.
The Internet can be a tremendous way to actively keep in touch with
customers or members and a powerful way of disseminating information.
There is no greater way of making money on 'automatic' that has ever been
created, because the Internet never sleeps. It promotes your cause 24
hours a day, 7days a week. And has few boundaries. If your information or
product has universal appeal, web hosts in the United States who are
asleep at 3am can still serve European visitors who are awake and at work.
European hosts
asleep at 3am can still serve waking Asian customers.
Every one of these great benefits of the Internet has legal ramifications.
No benefit the Internet has to offer is worth a confrontation with the
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or your state Attorney General or lawsuits
from visitors, members, subscribers or customers of your website. These
confrontations cannot just ruin your day, but your life. By following the
suggestions in the Internet Law Compliance System, your chance of running
afoul of the law drops to near zero.
There is a developing legal consensus that you, as a website owner, and
your visitor or viewer, have a quasi-relationship that carries duties and
obligations on each person's part. Some of these duties are statutory --
there are laws that govern them -- while others are contractual and
subject to remedies afforded by our common law heritage.
As a quick overview, here are a few of these legal duties and obligations
-- the biggies:
The relationship between the site and the viewer is evidenced in a
statement called "Terms of Use" (sometimes called "Terms of Service.")
This statement defines the relationship and sets out who may use the site.
If the visitor chooses to view the site, the visitor must accept your
Terms of Use. You need this statement even if you are not a commercial
site.
Subjects Covered:
The relationship between your website and child visitors carries enormous
responsibility.
Whether or not you collect information about your visitors, viewers or
users, you must disclose what information, if any, you collect and what
you do with it.
If you sell a product, service or information using the Internet, you have
just entered the world of commerce. Your visitor becomes a customer he
buys something. The obligation is on the seller, you, to be able to prove
that the customer read the agreement and accepted it prior to making the
purchase. You’ll find information about how to do that in this manual.
Doing business, even on the Internet, usually carries the obligation to
deal with regulatory and taxing authorities. In many ways, the Internet
has less day-to-day scrutiny than storefront businesses and is subject to
less regulation -- another great reason to learn how to use it. However,
the inherent problems that authorities have in finding or regulating
persons doing business on the Internet does not mean that you are not
subject to licensing, regulation or taxation that more traditional
businesses are.
