The G.S.D. 2000 shop opened its doors for the first time at the end of October 2000 and became an instant success.

Over the next five years the face of Holsworthy changed a great deal, some of the shops in Fore Street closed and the Supermarket and free car park in the main square moved to an out-of-town site.

It was time for G.S.D. 2000 to move on and find a new, much larger premises in a more prominent position.

Very soon negotiations were under way to lease large premises in the main square and the new shop opened on 24 November 2008. It was an immediate success and is the main source of income for the Charity.

If you are in the area please call in and have a look around the shop; we never cease to be amazed at the wonderful selection of goods that are donated to our cause each and every week. The 'throw-away society' in which we live provides shops such as ours the tremendous benefit of recycling many 'almost new' items in addition to receiving new unwanted gifts and some genuine antiques from Granny's attic.

Janet Watson, the Charity Shop manager, and her husband Pete, decided to give the Charity funds a boost by going on a Sponsored Bike Ride, starting on Friday 26th June.
The route was Holsworthy to Land's End…

Then back to Land's End… and finally returning to Holsworthy on Friday 2nd July, a journey of almost 2000 miles.
One of the days they covered 522 miles and were on the bike for 11½ hours.
A magic £1,002 was raised on the trip and Janet commented:
"We are a bit worse for wear, but 1945 miles later we are back in Holsworthy… not too bad for two wrinkly bikers in their 60s."
