Grup de Dansa L'Alcúdia, founded in 1963, is a cultural association
focused on researching, keeping and promoting the folklorical basement
of L'Alcúdia and its demarkation by the riverside of the Xúquer.
Furthermore, Grup de Dansa L'Alcúdia has a repertoire of traditional
tunes from all along the Valencian Country offered in its shows which
makes for a general overview of songs and dances from the Valencian
folk.In recent years, Grup de Dansa L'Alcúdia has participated in many traditional folk music & dance events, national (Andalusia, Aragon, Asturies, Castile, Galice, Soria, Tarragone...) or international (France, USA, Italy, China, Cyprus, England...), which account for the projection our association has achieved during its first 45 years working on behalf of our local culture.
Nowadays, Grup de Dansa L'Alcúdia has over 25 dancers and 15 performers in its band, equipped with the typical acoustic instruments (lutes, guitars and percussion, besides our traditional woodwind) and accompanied by soloist voices.
Finally, in an effort of spreading Valencian folklore, Grup de Dansa L'Alcúdia members teach off-school dancing, playing and singing through precise, didactical and pedagogical contents, provides an alumni of 60 (both young or not-so-young) the attitude and knowledge desired to understand such an important part of our society.
Many generations have passed through Grup de Dansa L'Alcúdia in its almost 50 years of history: today, nonetheless, our membership is an average of 35 years old, a youth backed up by the experience of a collective with three published recordings of Valencian folk music and a thousand given performances.
