"Murder Is The Caption In The U.K. Right Now"

December 13, 2006

Right now on all newspapers the talk isn't of the spy who was poisoned, it is of the serial killer whom they are calling "The Ipswich Ripper." It is like a story of old, only it is 2006. The serial killer has killed five women so far, and the authorities believe other women in past years may be tied to the Ipswich Ripper. More investigation is being done on that matter. What is fact is that five families have lost a love one. All women are young working women, in what is known as the red light district, in England. A small rural area Suffolk, England where homes are approximately 10 minuites apart cannot rest tonight. Authorities have warned all women to stay off the streets. To date there are  five women tied to the Ipswich Ripper  that have been dumped in different areas, yet the bodies are close together. These women were all found naked. A local newspaper has offered a reward of 250,000 pounds to catch the Ripper. There is little to no evidence because of the bodies being placed in a different area, other than the crime scene. They fear the crime scene may be the car, due to the nature of how the prostitutes work. Several thousand tips have come in but nothing to go on, that is a permanent link.

Well I have to address this on my front page news. As I sit and listen to Tony Snow discuss on behalf of the American President, the topic of Republican Mark Foley. (the congressman who could not help but be a sexual predator) Well Mr. Snow states as Press Secretary for the American President that President Bush is focused on things that matter. Excuse me, but I as an American and a concerned parent am very sorry that the president feels its ok to sexually demoralize young children, and that those things don't matter. What does matter, oil prices? I believe the white house is a zoo full of idiots crooks and perverts who are slowly getting caught!

This article is in my opinion on the topic of sexual demoralization of children by Mark Foley.

"More On North Korea"

September 27, 2006

The 200 million dollars of reconnaissance and intelligence equipment that was to be sold to South Korea from the U.S. did not happen on Tuesday. South Korean students from the National Alliance of Youth and Students announced an anti U.S. slogan, on September 21. The students want the U.S. out of South Korea. The students believe a second Korean War is looming in the balance, with the U.S. leading the way bringing animosity among the two countries. The slogan called for the U.S. to stop military exercises. In a different protest Koreans  in the Los Angeles area protested against the U.S. expansion, of the  base in Phyongthaek. They want peasants to be able to live in the area and farm, and not be forced from their homes, due to the expansion. At the end of the protest Koreans chanted "No U.S. Military Base!"

Can The Government Keep Up With Our Private Information In The United States"

September 22, 2003

This story is from The Department Of Commerce Website:

Commerce Department Announces Information From Reviews of Missing Department Laptops and Potential                  Breaches of Personal Identity Data

WASHINGTON, DC- The Department of Commerce today announced information from its recent Department-wide reviews of missing, lost or stolen laptops and potential breaches of personal identity data. The Department continues its review and is not aware of any data being improperly accessed or used. The information gathered from the reviews indicates that the Census Bureau had the disproportionate share of missing equipment and data. The reviews were in response to broad, government-wide Congressional and public inquiries.

Based on the review in response to the public inquiry, the Department determined that within its 15 operating units for the years 2001 to the present, out of over 30,000 laptops within the Department's inventory over that time period, 1,137 were either lost, stolen or missing. Of these laptops, 249 contained personally identifiable information (PII), although access passwords, complex database software, systemic safeguards and/or encryption technology significantly limit the potential for misuse of data on the laptops.

A separate review in response to a request for information from the House Committee on Government Reform Chairman Tom Davis (R-VA) regarding the loss or compromise of any sensitive personal information from 2003 to the present found that there were 297 instances. These included: 217 laptops; 15 handheld devices; 46 thumbdrives; and the rest involved documents or other materials.

"We have an obligation to be good stewards of public property and government data. The amount of missing computers is high, but fortunately, the vulnerability for data misuse is low. While we know of no instances of personal information being improperly used, we regret each instance of lost material and believe the volume of lost equipment is unacceptable," said Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez. "All of the equipment that was lost or stolen contained protections to prevent a breach of personal information, and we are moving to institute better management, accountability, inventory controls, 100% encryption, and improved training."

Information on the two agencies within the Department that have missing laptops with personal data follows:

Bureau of the Census

Most of the missing laptops were assigned to the Census Bureau, which during the last five years has used over 20,000 laptops. Every year, thousands of Census field representatives fan out around the country to compile survey data, using laptops in their work. Much of the field workforce is comprised of temporary, hourly employees paid to gather data door-to-door. Given the unique nature of the Census workforce and method of data collection, the Bureau has long had technological and procedural mechanisms in place that limit any potential breach of information.

Regarding the unique nature of the Census laptops, the Bureau indicated that they contained the following:

  • Technological Protections:
    • every Census laptop from 2001 on requires a password to access;
    • systemic safeguards ensure that once a survey is completed, the data is automatically stored on a laptop and cannot be retrieved or accessed in the field, even by the Census field representative; and
    • each laptop contains information on an estimated 20-30 households, and rarely more than 100; field offices report that typical laptops would contain zero-to-two incomplete surveys.
  • Procedural Protections:
    • the survey data is contained in complex database formats requiring specialized applications to access;
    • each laptop contains survey data that is regularly transmitted at the end of each day, and such data is fully removed from the laptops at the end of each survey period; and
    • since 2001, the Census Bureau has been adding encryption technology on a rolling basis for extra protection, and today, all new laptops have encryption protection.

The Census Bureau reported:

  • 672 missing laptops, of which 246 contained some degree of personal data;
  • 107 of these laptops were fully encrypted;
  • 139 were either partially encrypted or had no encryption;
  • of the missing laptops involving PII, almost half of the unaccounted laptops were stolen (104), often from employees' vehicles, and another 113 were not returned from former employees; and
  • 46 thumbdrives, all of which were fully encrypted and protected by systemic safeguards.

In addition to laptops, Census began evaluating the use of handheld devices to record survey data for testing processes in preparation for the 2010 Census. Of the approximately 2,400 in use since 2004, 15 have been lost, stolen or are missing with PII on them. All of these had encryption and required an initial password to operate the unit, and a second password to access the data that was only available to employees at Census headquarters. Unlike the laptops, it is possible for us to determine the potentially affected households, and we are in the process of contacting those 558 households even though the risk of misuse of data is extremely low.

In addition to those instances of potential breaches, the Census Bureau also reported 16 instances of non-electronic potential breaches of personal information, ranging from employee time and attendance records being lost in an office move to retirement information packages sent to the National Finance Center during Hurricane Katrina not being received. Where these potentially affected people can be identified, we are also in the process of contacting them.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

NOAA reported 325 missing laptops, of which 3 contained personal data. NOAA currently has over 12,000 laptops in their inventory. In one instance, a NOAA law enforcement agent's laptop with some case file information was stolen. On July 5, 2006 , a laptop containing information (D.O.B., addresses and Social Security numbers) on 146 employees and contractors was reported stolen following a building fire in a NOAA facility in Seattle , Washington . NOAA contacted each of the affected people and offered credit counseling.

Other Department of Commerce Bureaus and Offices

The following bureaus of the Commerce Department had the following number of laptops lost or stolen in the last 5 years: Bureau of Industry and Security, 9; Economic Development Administration, 6; Bureau of Economic Analysis, 4; International Trade Administration, 42; Technology Administration, 17; National Institute of Standards and Technology, 35; U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, 9; Office of the Inspector General, 2; and the Office of the Secretary, 17. None of these contained personally identifiable information.

Four Commerce agencies, the Economics and Statistics Administration, the Minority Business Development Agency, the National Technical Information Service, and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, had no missing laptops.

Going Forward

Secretary Gutierrez outlined the steps that the Department is implementing to protect against further missing laptops or potential breaches of personal identity data, such as:

  • asking the Inspector General to perform an investigation at the request of the Secretary;
  • directing an onsite senior Department of Commerce management team review at Census;
  • instituting inventory reforms, including the creation of one comprehensive database for all departmental property;
  • raising employee accountability standards;
  • expanding training to raise user awareness;
  • reviewing Department remote access and teleworking policies;
  • where warranted, imposing disciplinary action;
  • strengthening password protection policies; and
  • ensuring the recommendations included in the recent Administration policies are being implemented to include:
    • 100% encryption for all Department laptops;
    • two-factor authentication for remote access and laptop use; and
    • the reporting process for personally identifiable information.

"The Department takes very seriously these high instances of missing laptops, as well as potential breaches of personal identity data. This review process has clearly pointed out the flaws in the Department's inventory and accountability efforts going back many years. We are viewing this process with the spirit of actively rooting out the problems and addressing them immediately," added  Gutierrez.

"H5N1 Found In Cats In Iraq"

July 26, 2006

Could H5N1 aka "The Bird Flu" put are soldiers in danger?  It seems that 2 cats in Iraq have tested positive for H5N1. Scientist believe domestic cats may be at a high rate of catching the H5N1 strain. Other cats in Australia, Germany, Thailand and Indonesia have tested positive for H5N1. Scientist believe cats aid in the spreading of "The Bird Flu" but also act as a sentinel. Cats in Thailand carried antibodies to the virus, but cats also can carry the virus in their feces and guts. This means cats carrying the virus could contaminate areas where they live and roam. Test also show cats may just die after contracting the virus. Findings for these tests will be published in August in "Emerging Infectious Diseases."  To date WHO(World Health Organization) says no case has been linked from cat to human. Still scientists are baffled by cats that have died in areas where there are no bird flu outbreaks. Also a cat has shown duplicate gene sequences as a human. The University at Rotterdam in the Netherlands have performed test that show cats can spread the virus. The University is also looking at other animals such as ferrets, foxes and seals.

"Conflict Between House And Senate Over F-22 Fighter Jets"

July 21, 2006

The House and Senate are in conflict over the sale of our F-22 Fighter Jets! The Senate doesn't want to sell our F-22s to other countries, however the House does. The Senate was concerned in 1998, so they attached provisions to the FY-98 Defense spending bill that would not allow the selling of secret technology. The House last month approved a bill that would allow friendly nations to acquire the F-22s. The Senate does not want even our closest allies having any of our secrets. This is causing problems for the Air Force as they are trying to sell the F-22s.

"Antarctica Is Growing Bluegrass"

July 18, 2006

Antarctica has found Bluegrass growing on King George Island. Scientist say this could affect the ecosystem, and are trying to resolve the problem. They believe the Bluegrass might have been brought in by a tourist visiting. Possibly on the visitors shoe. Approxomatly 28,000 tourist will visit Antarctica, in the 2006/2007 year. There are 10,000 scientist each year who visit. The more people who visit, the more likely to see things grow that wouldn't normally. The North Atlantic Spider Crab is also among a new stowaway to Antarctica. Scientist are very concerned about contamination of the environment due to the rise in visits from people. Scientists have found seals and penguins infected with bacteria from sewage, that comes from the McMurdo research base. Scientists try to take many precautions while doing research, such as wearing protective suits. Scientist are concerned because  as global warming is becomming stronger new species are growing in areas, that would normally have an undisturbed ecosystem. This in turn will affect the life of animals in these undisturbed ecosystems.

It seems North Korea is not heeding the warning. They have loaded their missiles, and they are on the launch pad! North Korea is preparing to test missiles that could reach the United States. The missile launch could take place as early as Sunday, states the Japanese Daily. The missile test would put North Korea in violation of the 1999 moratorium on long range missile test! North Korea would also be in violation of Japan's Pyongyang Declaration, a declaration that was signed in 2002 between the two nations.

June 08, 2006

On June 06, 2006 Congress went back in to session. These bills were up for discussion, but nothing has been said on the Congressional website. Are the bills dead? I hope so! I will keep checking back and post answers here.

June 04, 2006

Well things are moving right along! The House meets  on June 06, 2006 to discuss the bills. This is looking bad for the citizens of the United States.

Well it seems the democrat from New York is busy! Charles B. Rangel (rep) has introduced Bill 4752(Universal National Service Act of 2006) in to Congress on February 14, 2006. This bill states that all persons in the United States including women from the age of 18 to 42 provide common defense for the United States! Do what? That's right they want all citizens to provide defense for the United States, for 2 years. First, the key word is citizens this excludes all non citizens. That is just wonderful! Non-Citizens come on over. You don't have to help serve your country, you just get to live here with no cost to your freedom! We the United States citizens will serve for you. We better pay close attention to this. I do not think this sounds good at all!!! This bill is also attached to H.R. 2723 introduced on May 26, 2006 ( past Friday) which states all young persons between ages 18 and 26 serve no less than 15 months of service for common defense for this country. The key word is "ALL."  Bill 4752 has been referred to the Subcommittee on Military Personal.  Bill 2723 on the same day introduced was passed to the House Committee on Armed Services.

"Veterans Identification Stolen"

May 22, 2006

Twenty Six Million Veterans had their identity stolen in the past few days! That is the largest amount at one time ever. Included were veterans names, social security numbers and birth dates. I think thats all you need to be a new person. They say this is an isolated case. I am scared! What would not be isolated? A government employee brought his work home. Wow, are you allowed to do that? You can read more on this at:  http://edition.cnn.com/2006/US/05/22/vets.data/

"Mirage Seen In Penglai City, East China's Shandong Province On Sunday"

May 14, 2006

Ok, I am looking at websites since the picture has been on the internet, it seems websites are saying it could be a time portal. Supposedly people received a telepathic message when seeing the mirage. I do not think it is a time portal. I personally think this is a hologram. Stay tuned for more because I am sure there will be plenty more on what was seen.

May 12, 2006

A mirage was seen in china this weekend. It looks like a full city! It had been raining for several days in the Shandong Province. Thousands of people saw this, and it lasted for several hours.

Comments:

I bet the Secret Service was in a frenzy. I saw the President in 2004 in  Panama City, Florida and the Secret Service was in a frenzy then also. I was about 50 ft from him and it was busy! They had planed on a small crowd but atleast 50,000 more people showed up. The Secret Service were everywhere, and they look like everything from grandma to the guy talking into his suit jacket. Watching them was a hoot!!!!!
