There could be LOADS of possibilities of why we like the Monkees...loads of different things, mixtures of things, emotions, experiences, whatever! But...let's stick to the universal reasons that almost every Monkee fan has to obsess over them. If a friend asks you WHY you like the Monkees, simply use this list to tell them.

~*First of all, we love the Monkees because they're FREAKIN hilarious. Every fan can agree with that. Although there can be times when they're not so funny...but, let's face it. They've all got seperate talents and kinds of humor, but it's just all freakin funny.

~*Their musical ability! So bahjeebin' WHAT if they "didn't play their own instruments" in the beginning. That does NOT mean they "couldn't play"! Sure, Micky couldn't play the drums at first, but at least he learned! And Mike Nesmith wasn't the only musician and songwriter...they all were! And they were all talented.

~*Their style. Face it. Their clothes ALWAYS seemed to suit them well. Their clothes, hair, everything. And the love beads were AWESOME. What more can I say?

~*Their four distinct personalities. They weren't just four copies of the same person...they all were unique. They all had distinct tastes in music and style and when it came together, it made something great. Personally, I like Peter's taste in music the best, but through loving the Monkees I got to appreciate country and broadway-style music even more than I ever would have. It opens us up to a lot of things and lets us appreciate more.

~*Their lasting affect. Even though Monkeemania has been in a slump lately (*hint hint* read here NOW!!! ) they still succeed in getting new fans all around the world every day.

~*Their message. Many of their songs had a good message, whether they wrote them or not. You didn't hear them talking about hate or death, like a lot of the music played today....

~*Second-to-lastly, their looks. Even though they didn't age so well......something about them even today makes me still find them adorable. Peter still has his dimples, and Micky still has his little eyes. What more can I ask for?

~*Lastly....they were BEATLE-APPROVED. The very band many people thought they were "impersonating" seemed to like them a lot. Micky was even at some of the Sgt. Pepper sessions. I mean....come ON! What an honor!

MICKY!


1. One good reason to love the man is the picture above. (CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE. *turns into an insane screaming teenybopper*)
2. His INSANE goofiness! Over the years he hasn't changed at all!
3. His FACE. It's so...different! It's INSANELY hard to draw, but...YOU name ten grown guys who have a snub-nose as small as Micky's. It's hard, isn't it?
4. VOICE. The almighty voice of voices! Gahhh! His singing voice AND his regular voice! I mean...he did the voice for the Frodis plant and the parrot on Hitting the High Seas! VOOOICE. And listen to him on (Prithee) Do Not Ask For Love. Holy bajeebas.
5. His afro. Enough said.

Five good reasons to love....
PETER!


1. His ability to be a serious person, but not so serious that he has no sense of humor!
2. The fact that he's SMART. Sometimes when he talks, half the words he says I have NO idea what they mean, despite my fairly good vocabulary.
3. DIMPLES. *THE* DIMPLES. Oh my.
4. Can You Dig It. That song is AMAZING.
5. His hair. He has the best hair out of the Monkees, I think. It looks so....so soft, and silky....and the way it flips when he turns his head sharply....

Five good reasons to love....
DAVID!

1. His ability to seduce the female species with his exotic voice and smooth looks.
2. His Britishness.
3. One personal reason for me to love him is the fact that he's only three inches taller than me, while Mr. Dolenz is a skyscraper compared to my little self.
4. His weird mirror-bathroom-scene in Head. Ohh my. I woke up the neighbors we don't have scream-laughing at that.
5. His high-waisted-ness. It makes his legs seem longer.

Now...last but not least...

MICHAEL!


1. The fact that I posted two pics of him above, and he's making the EXACT same face in both of them. That's pretty amazing, I must say!
2. HIS FREAKIN BOOTS.


3. Circle Sky. Only about the best song in the UNIVERSE.
4. His sometimes badass attitude. That's one thing that I don't like in most people, but the way Mike does it is so...wow. He's good.
5. His TALLNESS. His legs alone are half my body length.

One last note.....

The Monkees are my (and a lot of other peoples') escape from the sad world we live in. The fact that they're not sad and so pitiful and so self-centered as some of the music artists today lightens things up a little and helps us cope. Helps bring a little more joy into life. Thanks, Monkees, for making my life a little happier.
