You cannot be an artist...you have no BEARD.
I guess I could call myself an artist....I love drawing more than breathing, almost (except if I stopped breathing, I'd
die
, and I wouldn't be able to draw anymore! Such a vicious cycle). On this page you can find my various Monkee fanart. (click on the thumbnails for a larger version of the picture!) I have them all sorted out by which grade I drew them in (from grade 9 on), and the really good stuff is at the bottom. Enjoy! :3
-9th Grade Monkee Art-
These three are collages I made in my notebook.
This is a Davy portrait I'm pretty proud of...has the lyrics to "Early Morning Blues and Greens" on the background.
Here is sleepy Micky! This is the best likeness I've gotten of him. Ever. I am really bad at drawing Micky. :P (Portraits, at least--he's easy to caricature-ize, he's weird-looking!)
By the way, if anyone happens to find the original version of this picture, please
email it to me!
I had it on my old computer, but my old computer's hard drive burned up and has rendered it useless. It's such a cute picture, too!
Here is a picture from No Time...I didn't draw the actual Monkees in this pic, but I got bored in class one day and had access to a green marker. Wee!
This is a drawing of Mike on the piano from Cuddly Toy. Not a portrait this time, but a caricature!
Here is The Monkees from "Your Friendly Neighborhood Kidnappers," when they have their hands in cement.
This is my personal favorite drawing of Peter, I think I got a really good likeness of him.
Here is a drawing of Mike I drew during math class, when I refused to do math. :P It's not insanely amazing, but...hey, it's Monkee art, so I'll post it!
BARF. Bleck bleck bleck barf. This is a HOOOOOOOORRIBLE picture of Micky I drew. I told you, I can't draw him! GRRR.
This is a drawing of Davy with a tambourine. You can notice I drew his hands as mittens...that's because I can't draw fingers!
Here they are...the two very first pictures of Mike (or any Monkee) I ever drew! Yeah...I know Mike looks like Bob Dylan in the first one. But in the second one, I did it in five minutes, and still got a good likeness of him! He's always been easy to draw for me.
This is a little something I did on Paint....it's Micky as a hobbit, doing the Misty Mountain Hop. :P Heeeee. I got bored.
This is an anime-esque Monkeeman Davy! I thought it was kinda cute.
This is my pride and joy of my Davy drawings...just a profile, taken from the I'm a Believer video, but I think I got a great likeness.
-10th Grade Monkee Art-
I drew this in creative writing, as you can plainly see. He's groovy.
Monkeeeeeeman! I drew this in creative writing as well. :P
There's a funny story behind this one. You see, my friend Lacey's nickname is Davy (her favorite Monkee) and my nickname is Peter, and she always asks me "How's Peter doing?" So....here! He's doing SWELL. :P
This may be my pride and joy of doodles this year. Micky with wings. Ignore the little "hippie" thing at the top....I just wrote that randomly. :P This is the crude prototype of a painting I may paint in the future. Or just a really groovy doodle.
This is somewhat like the Groovy Nez picture, though I did a little more detail and took off the hat.
This is from Monkee Chow Mien, at the end when Micky's pouring tea. I drew this during a stupid standardized state test at school...yes, I know, the proportions are way off. His head is...so huge. Wow.
Micky from Monkees Marooned. This was just a quick profile I drew...it's not amazing, but I'm getting pretty fond of drawing Micky.
What was originally a picture of Mike's left eye turned into a doodle of Mike's face which turned into a doodle of Mike's arms which turned into a doodle of Mike's torso and guitar which turned into a bubble saying "MICKY" on the bottom which turned into a doodle of Micky's open-mouthed profile which turned into a picture of the frontal view of Micky's face with tape over his mouth. I'm profound.
A random piccie I drew of Peter and Davy singing, with a banjo. It took me
an hour and a half
to get Peter's hands perfect. They're the best hands I've ever drawn. Ever.
A random picture of Micky and Mike on the beach with a surfboard. The thing in Mike's hand is his woolhat, if you're wondering. I basically just drew this so I could have an excuse for drawing Micky shirtless.... ;) This looks better in real life. My scanner's not the best...
Uhum....yes. It's a very bad computer drawing of Micky. Yeeeah....
...this originally was a picture of Mike that I had drawn. But...yeah. My friend got a hold of it, and drew tiny shorts on him, and proceeded to turn him into a cat. A gender-confused cat.
I am terribly sorry about this, Michael Nesmith. I suppose it just had to be done. :P
Ahh, here's a portrait of Mike. I adore how I did the hair, but his eyes are too big. Well....this WAS the first time I'd done a portrait in over six months, so I was a bit rusty...
Another portrait of Mikey-poo! My mother actually did this one. But I drew in the hair. Yay! I got my love of drawing from my mom...and only from my mom. My dad couldn't draw a stick figure to save his life.
Here's Mike sitting on a TV. This is the first time I've ever drawn someone with a beard. Wow! His head's a bit big (as is his hair :P) but all in all I think this one turned out fairly decent.
Taken from an adorable picture of Mike. I had so much fun doing this one! It took me FOREVER to get the guitar right, though.
Drumroll, please....this is the first portrait I've EVER done of Peter! (Besides that sleeping one I did above, but I don't count that as a portrait). I love the original picture this came from. He's got such round cheeks and such soft features and such lovely eyes...
Here's my latest drawing of Mike! I love drawing his legs. This man has dream legs. Yowza.
Mike....as MONKEEMAN! Geez, I love drawing these guys in their Monkeeman outfits...and I do realize that I draw him in that pose way too much. OH WELL. :P I drew this on an English class paper, that's why it has the little text on it. I was too lazy to draw in my notebook, because it was under my desk, and I'm getting way too into detail on the makings and beginnings of this drawing.
This time, I drew Mike (without his hat! I hate drawing him without his hat!) on my history notes, exactly an hour after I drew the one above. I like drawing profiles more than frontal faces.
YAAAAY! This was actually a political cartoon I drew for my ancient world history class. We were assigned to draw a political cartoon depicting some sort of aspect in the Roman civilization, and I was assigned to do the fall of the Roman republic. Somehow, Mike, Peter, and Micky found themselves into my cartoon! XD Mike and Micky yelling at each other represent the civil war following the collapse of the Roman republic after Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus were killed (hence the headstone between them) and Peter represents those still loyal to the republic, holding up a falling column. I hope you've learned lots of Roman history from this cartoon, kiddies. And yes...I got extra credit on this picture, because my teacher liked it a lot. :P My grade is at the bottom! Whee!
This is a little practice drawing I did, while teaching myself to draw at different angles of the face and body. Nothing special, just a little sketchy-poo.
I am retarded when it comes to drawing stars. Bloody, bloody stars. (oh yeah, that's Mike in his Nudie suit. I never finished it.)
I could've turned this into some sort of awesome, but I gave up. I think it looks kinda cool the way it is. :P
Yes, Micky is being attacked by a giant tapeworm. Why? Because I'm a moronic loser who pays too much attention in zoology class and needs to be tranquilized.
...yeah. This is what happens when I try to take notes in Latin class. It never, ever works. I gave up on it. I'm a failure. (...but, I must admit...that's a pretty funny drawing. The quotes are from Monkee Mother, when Micky is spoon-feeding Peter. XD)
HOORAY! It's my first illustration EVER for a fanfic. This illustrates the part in a fanfic I wrote with me good buddy Lydia (whose lovely site is
heeeere
), where Peter is having a dream. Iiin this dream, Lydia manages to get stuck to Mike with...super glue. Hooray for dream logic! For some reason, I think I made Mike look like Lance Alvers from X-Men: Evolution. ....or maybe I'm just crazy. *shrug* How am I supposed to know, I haven't seen that show since...like...2004, or something.
And...dun dun DUNNNN...it's the second-ever fanfic illustration I've done! Yay! This illustrates the part in the same fanfic as above, right after Peter eats Micky's inedible cooking and goes to bed. With a tummy ache. :( My poor bubbykuuuns...
The image which inspired this drawing was pretty much my baby for most of my sophomore year...and I finally drew it. :) Since Mike and Davy are both Capricorns, I thought it would be kinda cute to draw them as fauns. And...there ye have it.
This was a gift for my zoology teacher, Mr. Warner, at the end of 10th grade. I owe a lot to that guy...he's one of the best teachers I've ever, EVER had. This isn't an exaggeration. Anyway...we dissected rats at the end of the year, and as with all dissections, he ALWAYS wants us to wear safety goggles. Because what is happening to Micky in this picture WILL happen to you. And to explain Davy's situation...that actually happened to me. I felt like I was going to throw up and pass out while Mr. Warner opened up the ribcage of the rat. XD And...yeah. He's pulling the "Claire stunt." I gave this comic to him, and he said he was going to frame it. Haha. :D I miss that guy.
-11th Grade Monkee Art-
This started out as a doodle while I was between customers at my aunt's gift shop, but turned into...super-skinny Mike! XD The lyrics are from his song "Only Bound" (if you didn't know that already). He's such a fun person to draw.
Oh, wow, it's in COLOR! And Mike and Peter are..*gasp* flying! The lyrics are from the Crosby, Stills & Nash song "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes." Beautiful, beautiful song.
Mike Nesmith, as the Nevada Fighter. Yet another beautiful song.
...yes. I know it's an atrocity...but this NEEDED to be done. It is probably, officially, the VERY FIRST EVER crossover of the Monkees and Death Note--I introduce you to the DEATH MONKEES! Peter is dressed up as Matsuda (they're both the "dummies" of their groups...and oh so cute XD), Davy is in drag as Misa-Misa (...uhm...yeah. *blushes*), Mike is the detective L (complete with PIE! and a cherry on top), aaand Micky is Light/Raito (with his death note and an apple for his shinigami XD). I'm probably going to the ninth level of hell for doing this. Oh dear.
*LEGAAAASP* WHAT? Something that's...NOT the Monkees?! How can this BE? These two, my friends, are the creations of me friend Lydia and me--Gleebis and Frodis. They live in the Realm of Monkeeness and they are Micky's friends. Gleebis is the result of a bad chemistry experiment and now has ears and a tail...and Frodis never speaks, but instead uses various hand signals that only Gleebis can understand. The character desgin is based loosely off of Youji and Natsuo from LOVELESS. You shall see them appear in fanfiction...muahahahaha!
