GRIFTER

The high unholy mighty rolling Grifter

HELLO CHILDREN!!!!

Just for the record, we are not post-hardcore, nu-metal, skate punk, ska punk, emo, screamo or any of those lame genres that have sprung up so that mindless kids can play dull music in disgraceful emulation of their heroes. we are a ROCK band...end of story!

If you like your music heavy, grooving and with a twisted sense of the sinister then this is the band for you. If not what are you doing looking at this site? Be on your merry way and check out the site for....................(insert lame, trendy, famous for five minutes kerrang! favourites here!)

This is a temp site until we get something better together. Don't know what will be on it yet, maybe music, maybe pictures, maybe nothing at all...who cares!?

If you insist on contacting the band e-mail grifter.rock@blueyonder.co.uk  and you'll probably get a reply! If you wanna hear some stuff, we've got some rough stuff kicking around until we do a "proper" recording, drop us a line and ask us nicely and we might send you something.

UPDATE MONDAY NOVEMBER 27TH

It may all seem to have gone a bit quiet on this site lately but that's because we mainly use the page at www.myspace.com/grifterrock for any updates now. Just a quick word to say that the ep for Fury 76 Records is all mixed, we just need to shoot the video, complete the artwork and get it all mastered and it'll be out there for you all to purchase and marvel over!!!

Following the sad passing of Ollie's mum recently to cancer, Grifter will be playing two shows in aid of Macmillan Nurses. The first will be at the Hub (formerly the 3 Fat Fish) in Exeter on November 29th with Died Smiling and Fatty Chan. Big thanks to Loud Arts promotions for this one. The 2nd gig will be at the White Rabbit at Bretonside in Plymouth on Saturday December 2nd alongside Schiztome, Crazy Arm and Consolation Prizefighter. Hope to see you all down there.

UPDATE WEDNESDAY JANUARY 18TH 2006

It's all go in Grifter world at the minute. Following a quiet couple of months we recently played at Heaviosity 3 at the Black Cat in Bradford-on-Avon courtesy of the fine guys at Gallipoli Records. A fun night was had by all by all accounts. Gallipoli Records will now be stocking copies of the "Elephantine" CD at their online store which can be found at www.gallipoli-records.co.uk. We will also be having a track feature on the next Heaviosity compilation CD on the label.

The CD has also received rave reviews at www.ninehertz.co.uk and www.thesleepingshamen.co.uk so check them out. Ollie recently did a live on-air interview with Total Rock Radio (www.totalrock.com) to promote the CD and a review of the CD will appear in the next issue of Metal Hammer (I'm guessing that's either February or March!).

Grifter have also been offered a deal with fast rising UK label Fury 76 (www.fury76.com or www.myspace.com/fury76records). The label is the brainchild of former Hellbastard/Nero Circus mainstay Malcolm "Scruff" Lewty and already has the distribution and touring potential lined up for the US and Europe as well as UK distribution through Plastic Head. Hopefully the first fruits of this union should be an EP...more news as we have it.

Some gig news as well for you. We'll be playing at the next Loud Arts Promotions gig (www.loudarts.com) at the Phoenix in Plymouth on Saturday January 28th headlining alongside the awesome Thee Orphans (www.myspace.com/theeorphans) from Bristol and local metallers Southpaw Jinx. We'll also be back at the Phoenix on Wednesday 15th February as support to the mighty Rectal Haemorrhage as they get together for a one off reunion gig. Hope to see you there!!!
