About Me!!

Hello and welcome to my site! Thank you for taking an interest in my very first published book, ‘From Grey Soup to Gateau’. I am sooooo excited about being a real author at last and I hope that my book reaches as many people as possible.

Here’s a little bit about me, just in case anyone is remotely interested in who I am and where I come from!..…I was born in Doncaster, England in 1961, the first of three children for my parents. However, because of their own troubles and their inability to care for me, they abandoned me as a seven month old baby in a railway station waiting room. I lived briefly in a children’s home and was then taken in and adopted by my mothers parents, my Nanna and Granpa. I won’t go into my whole life story as its mostly all in the book anyway!

Today I live with my daughter, Catherine, who designed this website for me - thank you very much! We live near Newcastle, England, having split up from my husband, Neil, at the start of 2003. I have home schooled Catherine for the past three years but hopefully she is going to study for her A levels at Newcastle College in September so I’ll be out there working again - as what, who knows! I have been a Jill of all trades in my life - I ran a toy department at Woolworth’s, altered kilts for a kilt-hire shop, cared for physically and mentally handicapped children, I was a childminder, I did voluntary work - the list is almost endless! Being able to live on the proceeds of my writing is my dream but until then I had better get back to work!

I love words, I love to read and write and talk and listen. I love the power of words to change moods, to change the world really. I love it when people have the courage to use their powers of communication to change the world for good - Michael Moore is at the top of my list for that at the moment! I love honesty and openness and the way that human beings can share on a level that really means something. I wish it happened more often. I hate superficiality and deceit and cruelty and lack of respect for other human beings. From the minute we are born we all deserve love, respect and dignity, otherwise we grow up with gaping holes where solid foundations should be.

On a lighter note I love food (too much!), my computer, animals (I would love to run an animal sanctuary!) a good movie, music of all kinds, travelling, the sea, the original Starsky and Hutch (although the remake was good as well!), Sunderland AFC, dancing wildly in the privacy of my own bedroom, sunshine, rainbows, mad thunderstorms and my bed - amongst other things!

If you would like to know more about me (she says modestly!) please write to me at greysoup2001@yahoo.co.uk and thank you for listening! Enjoy the site and my book and bye bye for now!!
