When yesterday was now.....

Greeny, better known as Steve Travis. We do not know who to blame for first using this nick name but I am assured that it has been with him for at least 30 years. So it has stuck.. But It is a fact that Bowie used it in his 1972 hit the song Jean Genie. Listen at the end of the first verse. "Poor little Greeny'' So there!

However, the fact is that Steve has been involved on the Colchester music scene since the late 60’s and has over the course of these years had the privilege of playing alongside some of Colchester's finest musicians.

Over these few pages we will attempt to put into order some into these musical changes and collaborations.

Where possible we will include photographs of these bands and the names of the band members. If you have any photos or cuttings of Steve and the bands please get in touch and we can include them.

So then how can Greeny go from local glam queen to MOR crooner and survive
