A little West of the boundary bewtween the Greenwich wards of Woolwich and Peninsula and the Greenwich Yacht Club is a pier complex known locally as "The Steel Jetty" which is being made available by it's landlords "English Heritage" to a group formed under the title of "Thames Maritime Heritage" to plan and produce a riverside project whose basic thrust will be to restore historic boats as a means of preserving boat-building and ship-wrighting skills at this location

"Greenwich" among other things is a borough of Greater London. Within Greenwich borough's [17] wards the one nearest central London is "Peninsula", probably best known as the location of the O2 Arena (The Dome). "Peninsula" also houses the Beckham Football Acadamy and routes the A102 through Blackwall tunnel to the A13 and thus to central London.
