FROM THE CHARITIES ACTS of 1993 and 2006

(1) For the purposes of the law ..  a charitable purpose is a purpose which— (a) falls within subsection (2), and (b) is for the public benefit (see section 3).


(2) A purpose falls within this subsection if it falls within any

of the following descriptions of purposes—

(b) the advancement of education;

(e) the advancement of citizenship or community development;

(f) the advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science;

(i) the advancement of environmental protection

 (2) A purpose falls within this subsection if it falls within any of the following descriptions of purposes—
(a) the prevention or relief of poverty;                                                    n/a

(d) the advancement of health or the saving of lives;                              possible
(e) the advancement of citizenship or community development;            applicable
(f) the advancement of the arts, culture, heritage or science;                applicable
(g) the advancement of amateur sport;                                                   n/a
(h) the advancement of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation or the promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality and diversity;                                n/a
(i) the advancement of environmental protection or improvement;        applicable
(j) the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability,
financial hardship or other disadvantage;                                             possible
(k) the advancement of animal welfare;                                                    n/a
(l) the promotion of the efficiency of the armed forces of the Crown, or of the efficiency of the police, fire and rescue services or ambulance services;                          possible  
(m) any other purposes within subsection (4). 

 

 

First things first

1) Where a charity is required to be registered it is the duty of the charity trustees—

(a) to apply to the Commission for the charity to be registered, and

(b) to supply the Commission with the required documents and information.

(2) The “required documents and information” are—

(a) copies of the charity’s trusts or documented particulars of them,
(b) such other documents or information as may be prescribed by regulations 
(c) such other documents or information as the Commission may require.

(3) Where an institution is .. registered, it is the duty of the [last] charity trustees —
(a) to notify the Commission if the institution ceases to exist, or if there is any change in its trusts  (b) to supply the Commission with particulars of ..  any new trusts or alterations of the trusts.

Constitution of The Trust

the Trust is named "Greenwich Peninsula Historic Ships Harbour Trust"  but for purposes of clarity and brevity shall operate under the working title "Thames Maritime Heritage"
