Green Screen 2008 is a small-scale environmental film festival that grew from an idea sparked by comedian/eco-warrior Mark Watson, a group called Crap At The Environment (CATE), and the UNEP's list of 'things you could do to mark World Environment Day'.The festival's main aim is to raise awareness of climate change, by presenting it in a way that's accessible to those of us who aren't top science brains (and maybe those who are, too). It'll also provide a few answers to the eternal question 'what can we do about it?'.
Green Screen will feature mainstream and independent documentaries, as well as talks by top experts in the climate change field, with Question & Answer sessions.
There'll also be the chance to find out more about a variety of local and national campaigning groups and environmental organisations. And if that's not enough, it'll all be taking place in the sunny seaside town of Portsmouth!
So put the dates in your diary, tell your friends (family, colleagues, etc), and get down to Green Screen this autumn. There's a great train & coach service from London (you can get tickets from £1 each way!) and you can top each day off with fish and chips on the beach!

Green Screen is being run in collaboration with the No. 3 Cinema (new sister screen to the No 6. Cinema).
It is supported by University of Portsmouth Students' Union (UPSU) and Portsmouth University People & Planet.
All speakers are appearing for free. UPSU are producing posters for free. The No. 3 Cinema are covering all costs of showing the films, and will therefore take the proceeds to cover these. A percentage of profits (if there are any) will go to a selected environmental charity.
The festival is about raising awareness, not profits. So please do support it by coming along.
