Welcome to Lincoln Nitschke's private collection of preserved
aircraft, replica aircraft, restoration projects, scale model
aircraft, and general aviation memorabilia.
Included in the museum is the largest public display of 1/72
scale model aircraft in the Southern Hemisphere, with over 1400
models displayed in glass cabinets surrounding the walls of
the museum.
Cockpit sections in the museum include a partially restored
Boomerang, several CAC Wirraway sections in varying degrees of
restoration, Fairy Battle two-seat bomber/trainer with engine,
Avro Anson Mk 1, Airspeed Oxford Mk 1 and De Havilland Mosquito.
The collection also includes two gun turrets, a Fraser-Nash turret
from the Wellington Mk 1 Bomber, and a mid-upper turret from
the Avro Lincoln.
A variety of engines are also displayed in the museum, which include:
- Armstrong-Sidderly Cheetah 9: 7 cylinder air-cooled engine rated at 355 hp, fitted to the Avro Ansons.
- DeHavilland Gypsy Queen: inline 6 cylinder air-cooled engine rated at 400hp, fitted to the DeHavilland Devon.
- Wright Cyclone-9: 9 cylinder air-cooled radial engine rated at 1200hp fitted to the Hudson bomber and Dakota.
- Rolls Royce Derwent Gas Turbine Jet Engine from the Glostor Meteor.
- DeHavilland Goblin Jet Engine which powered the DeHavilland Vampire.
- Rolls Royce Avon Jet Engine
The museum also contains a Mobile Radar Tracking Unit, which was
used at Woomera for aircraft and target drone navigation, as well
as missile tracking. General Memorabilia in the museum includes
Aviation pictures, dioramas of the Battle of Britain and Mallala
airfield, aircraft windows, tails, landing lights, and aerials,
rocket motors, and even the old Control Tower Instrument Panel
from Parafield Airport.
