I have sad news for the sites veiwers. Green Day 12301 will be on a hiatus. I do not know if the site will ever continue, but it is deffintly closed for now. My fomer assistant manager Ashley has quit, and I do not think that I can run the site without her. The site has become a burden to me. It is stressing me out, and I need to be able to relax in my spare time since my school work is very hard. I am sorry to the people who veiw the site regularly. I hope you understand how hard it is getting to run. Remember that The Green Day Authority is a great website that you guys can get all your news from. Most of you are already GDA members. The site will stay open so you can still read the articles, but I am going to stop paying the domain bill so soon the link will be back to www.freewebs.com/greenday12301 . So, I am sorry, goodbye. Ashleys goodbye is below.

-Jesse Lederman

Dear Visitors,
Throughout the ten months I've served you, it's been a rollercoaster ride of
ups and downs. I truly thank each and every one of you that have helped us
along the way. It means the world to me that you rocketed us to about 10,000
hits in one month. I love you all for that.

To all past and present members of the staff, thanks for putting up with my
orders and complete disorganization. I know I wasn't the easiest to work
with at times. Without all of you, this place couldn't have gone off the
ground.

To the bands, I'm sorry I dropped the ball on you guys. I am forever a fan
and am still here for you until the end.

My decision was a tough one, and I would like you all to know Jesse and I
still remain good friends. It had nothing to do with this.

My final piece of advice to all of you is to live your life to the fullest
and to not be afraid to be a non conformist. There's so much to experience
in life, and it's a shame to not get a taste of it.

Yours truly,

Ashley Hoerz

In the newest issue of Rolling Stone (cover to the right), there's mention of Green Day's recording of the Simpsons theme song which will be released next month along with the movie.

"Green Day aren't just making animated cameos in this summer's The Simpsons Movie - they're also writing the theme song. The rockers - who recorded their guitar-heavy take on the TV show's signature tune last year in San Francisco - added lyrics to the Danny Elfman-penned instrumental. The song will be released as a single on July 24th, three days before the film hits theaters, as well as on the soundtrack."

This weeks Kerrang Magazine includes a short article about Green Day and the upcoming Simpsons Movie.

In the article there is a quote from the shows creator Matt Groening who says this about Green Day, "They're really good sports and I think we both honour them and Simpsons'-ize them. You can take that however you want. They're really nice guys."

They also mentioned the upcoming Green Day release of the Simpsons theme song which will be out July 24th, three days before the movie release.

If anyone is wondering about the rumor that Green Day is switching producers, their management confirmed that they are sticking with producer Rob Cavallo.

There is a bit of site news and help wanted today as well. First, I found a new writer named Kate... she's from the UK and you will see her work up shortly. She's very down to Earth, and a great addition to the team. Welcome, Kate!

Homer Simpson in "The Simpsons Movie"

The big surprise act set to play tonight's "Idol" finale is ... Green Day? So says Star magazine, which also reports that former "Idol" winners Kelly, Carrie and Taylor will perform.

Check out the trailer here — Green Day appear about 20 seconds before the end — but blink and you'll miss 'em. I'm serious when I say that... I had to watch it twice because I blinked at first.

"Green Day is in the movie — I will publicly acknowledge that Green Day are in the movie," "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening laughed. "They're really good sports and I think we both honor them and 'Simpson'-ize them. You can take that however you want. They're really nice guys."

(See Groening talk about which celebrities didn't make it into "The Simpsons Movie." )

"I know that Moe yells out obnoxious stuff to Green Day while they're performing. That I remember," Hank Azaria — voice of "Simpsons" mixologist Moe Szyslak and about 46 other characters on the show — added. "He yells out stupid stuff to Green Day. [They don't play] at Moe's Tavern. They perform elsewhere in the movie; they're outside. And the whole crowd turns on them."

(Thanks to Mtv.com for the news.)
