Description (from Howard Lowery.com):
WALT DISNEY STUDIO
The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
two (2) original production animation layout drawings
black, red and blue pencil on two (2) untrimmed animation sheets, image sizes: 6.5" x 9.75" and 9.75" x 12.5"
These two (2) original animation layout drawings of Basil and Dr. Dawson in the detective's quarters at 221 Baker Street were created by a Disney Studio artist in development of two scenes of sequence 001 in the animated feature based on the story Basil of Baker Street by Eve Titus. In these scenes Basil prepares to conduct a ballistics test on a pistol while Dr. Dawson argues that Olivia Flaversham is in need of assistance.
One of the drawings is a quick, sketchy rendering while the other is more polished and includes a planned camera move. The scenes were staged somewhat differently in the final version of the film. The artist wrote the designation "0238 001 Sc 262" at lower right on one sheet to identify the film and mark this original's place in it; camera move and Dawson's entry into the scene are also noted. Our certificate of authenticity is included.
