Originally started by Lloyd’s parents, Delmer & Mary Wicks, Grasshill has progressed from leasing its first cows (to establish which genetics it wanted to base the herd on) to breeding 5 Canadian Champion Producers and exporting cattle to over 60 countries, among them top show and production winners in countries such as England, Ireland, and Australia. ET work and bull sales both domestically and abroad have augmented heifer & milk sales, and early on led to our policy of limiting exposure in the show ring in the interests of protecting the herd’s long-held CHAH status.

'Grasshill’ is a Family Farm focusing on developing profitable genetics- animals with the will to work and the type to sustain high production year after year. A long-time breeder of purebred Holsteins, we have now added their caprine counterpart— purebred Saanens. The initial animals purchased have been carefully selected for production, type and pedigree, to provide a strong genetic base on which to build. One, for example, is the EX, *P, 2001 Grand Champion, Best Udder, Best in Breed Saanen doe- Canadian East National Show.
