3D visuals are created when a packaging or exhibition design needs to be sent to a client for approval. This can be needed at any stage of the design process. Specialist 3D software can be used or Photoshop and Illustrator can be called into action. In this case I had to take low resolution photos and rebuild them using an in-house shot of a blank pack mockup and the old artwork. Colours had to be adjusted in Photoshop to closely match the 6 Pantone spot colours used on the final pack.
This is an example of the sort of retouching you might do for a magazine or a cosmetics campaign. The natural photo is charming but displays imperfections that need to be removed. I've applied a layer of makeup as well as removing imperfections, straightening and flattening features and improving the colour balance.
