There are sixty legacy stories on this site that are included in the author's non fiction book, They were gathered from the oral history of her diverse family . The stories are filled with  the many struggles she reveals as she tells the humor and pathos filled episodes. Also included are stories from the forties to the present day.  Entries include some well known  political figures as well as issues concerning  the homeless, alcoholism, abuse, and revelations of overcoming adversity.

The works of Joyce Godwin Grubbs include creative non-fiction as well as  suspense/mysteries and romantic fiction.

While written as fiction, the novels are filled with real life events and people who were fictionalized to prevent the discovery of their locations and underground lives. These events were part of the author's experience work in her or her life experience.

A  Word From the Author

Among the lessons I learned that brought me into the writing field, were the lessons learned when I was introduced to political realms; in particular, being a candidate. One is never at a loss for material and inspiration. For someone who loves to "people watch", this opened  my mind and taught me unforgettable realities of life, which I hope are found in my writings.

City Council Candidate

           "WANNA BE"

As a "Candidate Wanna Be" I had to give up some "old ways" and become more modern. An ambush make over was performed.

This picture below was taken at my most successful fundraiser. It was a Celebrity Auction with donations from, among others; Dolly Partin, Elizabeth Taylor, Clint Eastwood, Burt Lancaster, President Bush (one), Senator Bob Dole, Congressman Tom Tauke, The Cubs Baseball team. Kurt Vonnegut sent a signed book. Linda McCartney (Mrs. Paul), sent an autographed copy of her first Photography Book, And a personal thrill for me was a signed card and momento from Lady Thatcher. There were many more too numerous to mention.

I am on the left with a group of wonderful supporters.

The Billboard is from my 1987 Campaign for City Council

It spotlighted my campaign theme: In touch with the heart of the city. I became known as the "heart in the hand lady" for years to come.
