Announcing our new Ride for MAY 24th 2008! Grainger County Humane Society`s Ride For Paws & Claws Motorcyle Run and Morristown AMVETS Riders Chapter 7 War Dog Tribute Rally!

This year`s ride has a new twist. Due to our run falling on Memorial Day weekend. Grainger Humane Society is teaming up with the Morristown AMVETS Riders Chapter 7 to not only raise money for Grainger County Humane Society but also for the Veterans & soldiers of war that normally go unnoticed. - The War Dog.

Dogs have been used in wars all over the world for centuries. The United States has used dogs in combat in every war we have been involved in including the war in Iraq. We hope to raise money for these dogs that are in active duty right now around the world serving OUR county. As our soldiers fighting over seas need things from home so do these dogs. Doggy treats, toys and especially coolly packs which are used under their kevlar vests to help these dogs keep cool in the extreme desert conditions. The war dogs save soldiers lives daily by sensing explosives and the enemy around every corner. No matter how you feel about the war, we still all agree the support of our troops is important. So keep a look out in our future news letters for more on our New GCHS Annual Ride for Paws & Claws and AMVETS Riders War Dog Tribute.
If you are a veteran and have a story of a dog you worked with while serving your country please contact Rocky Farr at 865-567-0050 or email
timssquaw@hotmail.com and share your story so we can share it with others. Veterans don't always walk on 2 legs, our 4 legged heroes need to be recognized too on this weekend we call Memorial Day Weekend. GCHS & the AMVETS are also looking for sponsors to donate, money, items, services and your time to this important and special ride.

All animals on this site are up for adoptions and need forever homes!

                     MALCOME                                               OTIS

The Grainger County Humane Society is made up of a handful of volunteers that work out of their own homes and many times out of their own pockets. These volunteers provide the county and surrounding counties` stray, abandon, abused and neglected animals with care, housing and placement into good homes. Even though we are very small we are mighty! G.C.H.S. saves hundreds of animals each year from euthanasia. Providing low cost and sometimes free spay and neuter for low income pet owners. Low cost adoptions for dogs and cats. Working with wonderful local vets we also provide low cost wellness clinics. Making affordable adoption to everyone who can give Man’s Best Friend a good home. We also provide in school programs to educate our children about the importance of spay and neuter, pet education and the awareness of animal abuse and neglect.
All animals adopted out each year by G.C.H.S. are spayed or neutered, given their shots and are checked by our
wonderful vets who donate their time and services in many cases. We still have to pay most costs for each animal that is brought to us. All animals are kept in foster care in our homes. Our volunteers absorb costs for food, vet care and all the time they spend with this endless job. We receive very little help with these costs. Forcing us to do what we can to raise money.
When an animal comes to us we provide all the care needed to place this animal into a new forever home. In most
cases we lose money rather than make it to ensure the animal gets a home. This means our funds run low and we need your help.

Please Saddle Up The Iron Horse and Ride For Us!

Make it possible for us to continue our work and work toward our goals which include opening a Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic for Grainger & Surrounding Counties. If we can start at the source by controlling over population, we have won half the battle!

UPDATE- Because of your help with our past Annual Rides we have reached a rung in our ladder of goals. At the end of 2006 GCHS purchased a small peice of land and trailer for a GCHS office and future Spay & Neuter Clinic!!! But we still need your help! We still have so many things to do and thousands of dollars must be raised to purchase equipment and everything it takes to open a Spay & Neuter Clinic.

UPDATE 2008- GCHS is very close to their goal of opening our LOW COST SPAY & NEUTER CLINIC. We still need more equipment that only you and this ride can help provide. We depend on your support to fund this dream while still taking care of the many homless animals in and around Grainger county, fighting & prosicuting animal abuse and neglect and educating the public about all these important subjects. Remember even though we are struggling to get this clinic up and running GCHS still finds ways to keep providing spay and neuter progams. We dont stop working so please dont stop your support and ride with us this year!
