Solution
First Illustration and Email Clue Solution
Illustration One
The first illustration contains 5 significant clues:
1) The border symbols.
The symbols are the alphabet font Carrs Astrodings, and when translated by
using the comet code read:
KING SOLOMNS SEAL IS THE KEY
TO UNLOCK THIS FIRST GRAIL MYSTERY
LAY UPON THE LAND THE SEAL
AND FROM THE CLUES A PLACE REVEAL
2) Halley's Comet.
Halley's Comet dates are needed to translate the symbols. As you will see you
must take each number of the comet's date in negative and use them in a repeated
sequence (starting from the top left symbol, going clockwise) to crack the
border symbol code.In this case -1 -6 -0 -7
3) The Knight's shield.
It contains a Solomon's Seal with multi-coloured pointers.
4) Two Solomon's Seal plants.
An extra reference to the importance of the shield.
5) Stonehenge.
The illustration shows a section of Stonehenge traced from a photograph.
Email Clue One
You are looking for a location (eight letters long), once you have found it, remember it, it is one of six tasks that will lead you to the Grail.
THE GRAIL APPEARS
How Many times will you return?
Each time it makes for wonder,
Just like the first surmise, within the eye,
Of him who set the planetary
Laws in motion.
For it was deemed, that at that place
Where heaven and ancient stone
Should meet, I should at once set down my seal,
And take the path the Grail to seek.
And on my journey came I to a bridge,
Whose precipice was steep, the devil take it!
Though yellow is a colour on my shield,
Not in my heart, I must forsake it.
Of all the colours, I profess,
The one Earth signifies the best,
The blue sky and the blue ocean,
Does on my shield depict devotion.
Therefore devotion be my guide,
And steadfast longing be my pride.
The green eyed envy Time is at my back,
Nothing ahead but sea!
Verse one refers to the comet and to Kepler who saw Halley's Comet in 1607.
Verse two instructs you to lay the shield's seal upon a map with its center upon Stonehenge.
Verse three refers to Devil's Bridge and tells you to point the yellow pointer of the seal directly towards Devil's Bridge. Note how the Knight forsook Devil's Bridge which for a Knight seems a strange thing to do!
Verse four and five tells you to follow the blue pointer of the seal until you reach the sea. It is there you will discover TINTAGEL, the first location you are searching for. If you follow the green pointer of the seal in the opposite direction you will come to the confirmer Greenwhich - 'The green eyed envy Time is at my back,'
EXTRA CLUE
An extra clue was posted on the Round Table
Forum message board for illustration one:
The orbit of each planet is an
ellipse and the Sun is at one focus.
A reference to Kepler and his First Law of Planetary Motion.
