Custom Chrome aka "Sneakers"
No barn would be complete without a mascot - Sneakers has continued to provide us with many hours of laughter and joy. He is a 16.1hh Thoroughbred gelding who shows talent over fences and has been shown lightly in the hack ring on the schooling and Trillium circuit. Look for him in the show ring in 2008 with his Junior rider!
Wild Bill aka "Billy"
Billy is your typical quarter horse-wide, loves to eat and has a good head on his shoulders. He is the herd barometer-he keeps everyone in line, is the welcome wagon for any new arrivals and is the first to let us know when we run out of hay in any capacity. He is quiet, well mannered, but definitely still has some spunk. He loves to be groomed and fussed over, mostly by little people who are more his height. Looking for a hack horse? This guy is fantastic, great with our beginners, and is enjoying his semi-retirement by sleeping in the sun and taking anyone who is game for a ride around the field.

Caledonia aka "Cally"
Cally is the barn princess. Big, black and more of a "people" horse. Will ignore anything, including her food for a chance to be in on any conversation. She's still trying to figure out where her big long legs go with each step, but her main job is to make sure that any horse in her 3 horse herd knows she is second in command after Billy and that she must come into the barn second at feeding time. Most of the time however, you'll find her sleeping in her stall, and most likely snoring. Cally is our broodmare prospect and will be attending her CSH inspections next year.

George
What can we say about George? A loveable old grump, he is the first horse everyone rides. Don't let his size fool you, however. He is one of the best beginner horses, and will jog around on a loose rein for hours! While he doesn't like to live indoors, he does like to come in and out of the shelter ("George goes in, George goes out") and come in for his dinner. While he is supposed to be a Quarter Horse, we suspect he has some standardbred in him as well.

The Devil Wears Dapples aka "Beaker"
Everyone loves a little grey pony. This medium welsh cross is cute, friendly and enjoys spending his time grooming his buddy Faith. While we don't know a ton about his past, we do know he's quiet, fun and has at some point in his life shown in the medium ponies as well as the short stirrups. He had a fantastic start to his show career with us, picking up many ribbons, and was reserve champion at his first show! We can't wait to see how he does in the pony hunters next year!

The Paper Bag Princess aka "Faith"
Don't be confused. She may look like Cally, and have almost the same markings, but she's pint sized! This large pony is a fantastic little hunter--loves to be ridden, loves to jump and most of all loves to eat. Where's Faith? Eating. While the others will come willingly when called, she must be coerced away from her mountain of hay. She's the dainty one of the bunch--hates to be muddy and dirty (unlike Beaker).

Almost Famous aka "Bear"
We were excited to have Bear join our team--he lives to teach beginners the ropes and is friendly and quiet. Easy to handle by anyone he comes easily when called, loves to stand in the crossties for hours to be groomed and shares Billy's talent for eating almost nothing and gaining weight. Bear will mostly be used for flat lessons and for our more recreational riders who want to head out on the trails. He is the most gentle horse at Gracewood and is our official welcome wagon to all new clients.

Trooper
What can we say about Trooper. Your typical Canadian-big, black and too smart for his own good. Has way too much fun keeping George out of the shelter, away from his food, and generally causing mischief. However, a willing and happy horse under saddle. Trooper is learning that hoses do not equal 'big snakes', that fly spray is not a torture process, and leaping inexplicably in the air is not acceptable practice. He excels at eating and outsmarting us all!
