If the trucking industry (had) succeeded at eliminating overtime due to competition, why wouldn't the pharmaceutical, textile, electronics, communications and even the insurance industries be able to make the same claims? The Court of Appeals stopped Bush and the Commissioner of Labor from sending our state's workers (truck drivers) back to Depression era conditions, before overtime and minimum wage laws were enacted. It is absurd that in this day and age anyone should be required to work 60 or 70 hours each week without being compensated at time and a half his or her regular pay for overtime. P.A.T.T. Comment: Does this change apply to truck drivers driving through the state?
