Popular Mixes
Keep in mind that all areas are different in their taste preferences. Also, some mixes are more seasonal than others.
Beverages-
These are popular during the fall and winter and die down in warmer weather. The Hot Spiced Wine, Hot Apple Cider, Peach and Raspberry Tea, and Russian Spiced Tea are especially popular in the Fall and Winter. The Hot Chocolates sell well when placed in a Christmas mug. The Cherry Simmer sells great when sampled, but not at all when not sampled. The Peach, Raspberry, and Cherry Tea when sampled as an iced tea, sell great!
Breads/Sweet Breads
The Miniature Italian Biscuits and Brushcetta Italian Bread are great to sample at home shows where you are able to keep them warm for a couple of hours.
We have several distributors that sample the Spiced Apple Cake Mix, Nana’s Banana Nut Bread, and The Sweet Strawberry Bread. They have great success with those. They make them in mini muffin pans. We sometimes sample the Pecan Pie Muffins and Pumpkin Bread Mix and they go over very well when we do. We make them in the mini muffin pans and then cut the muffins in fourths so that we can get more samples out of a package. The pancakes all sell about the same and are just okay sellers.
Desserts/Cookies
We have TONS of luck with the pies ALL year long! The Key Lime, Dreamsicle, Strawberry Lemonade Pie/Dip, Lemonade Pie, Heavenly Chocolate Pie, The 5 Star Coconut Pie, and the Caramel Pecan Pie are all very popular and easy to sample. Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie is a good seller around Thanksgiving, but we don’t sell many after that time.
Other desserts/cookies that sell well and are easy to sample are the Snickerdoodles,
Sugar Free
PawPaw’s Sugar Free Chocolate Pie, Sugar Free Coconut Pie, Sugar Free Key Lime Pie, and Sugar Free Lemonade Pie are the most popular ones. They are easy to make, easy to sample, and our best selling sugar free mixes. Poppy’s Sugar Free Pumpkin Pie is popular as well, although it tends to sell better in the Fall. The Chocolate Cheesecake tastes great and is popular, but it doesn’t hold up as well at a longer show or an outside show even if it is on ice. It tastes fine, but just doesn’t look very appealing.
Dips
This whole category is a great selling category!
For the non-sweet dips, Mexican Fiesta and Ranch are popular because people love the fact that they can get more than one use out of these. You use only 1 tsp of the the Mexican Fiesta and the Ranch dip for 1 cup of sour cream. So, you can get anywhere from 7-12 cups of dip out of one package. The Spinach Dip and Mexican Fiesta are the most popular dips, but ALL of them are GREAT sellers.
All of sweet dips are very popular as well, especially whatever you sample!
Soups/Meals
Meals and soups- Our 2 BEST SELLING categories!!! People are always looking for quick, easy meals! The most popular soups are Black-eyed Pea Soup, Tortilla Soup, Lone Star Soup, Potato Soup, Baked Potato Soup, Taco “Soup”reme Soup, Crowd Pleasin’ Cowboy Stew, and Vegetable Soup. The most popular meal is the Mexican Meatloaf. It is absolutely delicious and very popular. Most of our soups and meals serve a lot, and people like that because they can feed their whole family. Other popular soups and meals include: Navy Bean Soup, Minestrone, Black Bean Soup, Bean Soup Seasoning, Cream of Anything Soup, Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup, Cajun Red Beans, Jambalaya, Beef Stroganoff, and Chilly Weather Chili.
Sides
Sweet Potato Crunch is popular all year but especially in the fall. All of the others are just regular sellers.
BBQ’s and Meats-
All of the shaker jars are about the same in popularity. We sell more of the fish fry that is in the fish bag at Christmastime and Father’s Day, so we wouldn’t suggest buying too many of these.
