Got Hope Walkathon

Who We Are

Last year Edison's students, faculty, and community were hit hard when one student and two alumni students committed suicide.  Additionally, in December of 2006 an Edison senior was diagnosed with Leukemia, a life-threatening cancer.

As a feeling of helplessness spread throughout the school, Edison students began to wonder what they could do to assist the causes. At a student government association (SGA) meeting one member broached the topic of hosting a walk-a-thon and the idea caught on fire. The girls lacrosse team thought of the name: "Got Hope? Walk-it-out!" The Key Club and JROTC hosted games and activities; while the SGA and other interested students planned the event. After the walk-a-thon $5,000 were raised and two checks of $2,500 were sent to the American Cancer Society and Crisis Link.

As Edison High School prepares for their second annual Got Hope Walk-a-thon they will continue to raise money for their causes, create everlasting memories and honor those who have been lost, touched or hurt by these devastating events.
