Gorehounds Unite!

I just want to start this review out with a disclaimer.....If your not into films that are very Adult and disturbingly realistic in it's portrayal, then stay as far away from this film as you possibly can! I want to also point out that if your a parent of a child or teenager this film will take on an even more disturbing reality to you than other viewers and you may want to stear clear.With that being said well get onto the actual review....just don't say I didnt warn you!

 In the many years Ive been into horror films I started to make certain sub-genre's that I would catagorize films I saw into....One such sub-genre I made up is what I like to call the Shower film. Basically it means just what it looks like, It's a film that after you watch it you feel the need to shower because it made you feel so dirty and scuzzy. At first when watching this film I thought this would be the sub-category that I'd place the film but after further viewing Ive decided that this needs a different sub-genre. This film was just way to hardcore to be just a shower film so Ive dubbed it a Steelwool Shower Film. This film is so disturbing and creepy that it really gets under your skin, Youll feel the need to jump in the shower and scrub your skin raw with a steelwool pad till its bleeding just to feel clean again! And even that may not be enough! Hence the title Steelwool Shower.......

This film was shot on a camcorder which acts as the viewers point of view for the whole film (think of it as you just found a tape of someone who made a snuff film and this is the result). I have to point out that I hate this look to a film and the best thing I can compare the shooting style to is Blair Witch (i hated that film).....So I was at once annoyed by this but I have to point out that it wouldnt be anywhere near as effective if it had been shot any other way. The main problem I had with it was the fact that the director rendered some grain video noise to the picture in places and it just felt like too much.

 This leads me to the acting.......I was extremely impressed with how good these leads were. You totaqlly forgot that you were watching a film because the dialogue flows exactly as if there was no script at all but instead they are just having a normal everyday conversation. The young woman playing Stacy was the most impressive as there were many times when watching the film that you could understand exactly what was going through her head by her body language....and that my friends is the hardest thing an actor will ever have to do.

 One of the most amazing parts of this film was the way that it played with your emotions and messed with your head. The film at the beginning has a very voyeuristic erotic quality about it thats hard to explain...but then it hit's you with a plot point that makes you feel extremely dirty and sick for feeling that way (I won't tell you here because it's a spoiler) and as it progresses makes ou feel more and more dirty for having watched it.  I assure you and will go on record now saying that this film is so realistic and sleazy that within the next 2 years someone will report this film as a real "Snuff" film......

 All in all I have to say that it really wasnt my favorite kind of film to watch but it does work on all the levels that the filmmakers meant it to.  This film is an extremely dark, depressing, sleazy and disturbing work that will leave a lasting impression on you that you wont soon forget no matter how much you want to.
