Welcome to Gor
You have chosen to step foot into the world of Gor and you have chosen
to do such as a Free Woman of Gor. If these are not your first
steps and you have been around for a while you are still most welcome
to my site. I am not an expert by any means. I do not
profess to have every answer for the many challenges that face a free
woman in her portrayal of herself on Gor. I only profess to have
an undestanding of the world and cultures of that world. My hope
is to see this site grow into something that is a living, breathing
help to women. I wish women to submit their own thoughts and I
will have a forum for women about topics of interest to Free Women of
Gor where we can share our thoughts, feelings, ideas and triumphs.
Gor is a harsh world. Its beauty is its primal nature. It
is a world of strength. The Free Woman of Gor is no
different. Her strength is more subdued than that of the
men. It is often a softer strength. They are no where near
as physically powerful as a man and would never think to be. Even
the strongest of Panther Girls and Talunas respects the sheer physical
strength of a Gorean man. The strength of a woman comes from
within her. It is her intelligence, her cunning, and her
wit. These are her strengths and these are also her tools, her
weapons if you will. In this site I hope to explore the often
contradictory nature of free women as well as the complexity of
them. There is no 'mold' or formula to the perfect free
woman. Each, like a snowflake, is unique in her own way.
There are cultural issues and limitations that the woman must be aware
of. How she thrives in those restrictions is entirely up to her.
Why No Quotes?
This site has no quotes on being a free woman for a variety of
reasons. My largest reason is that there is no replacement for
reading the books and gaining the information in context. A quote
can be plucked from any source and taken out of context to prove any
point. This is commonly done with Gorean Quotes. I would
rather have a forum for discussion than to take quotes and imply upon
them my own meaning. I might just do that in my blog and I might
do that on the boards but I will not do that here, on this site.
There are twenty six books of Gor to date. Each book reflects the
growth of its starring characters and is often told through the eyes of
that character. The world of Gor, in early books, is seen through
a transplanted man of earth that is learning what it means to be
Gorean. His perspectives, in those books, are consistant with
that mindset. His perceptions in later books swing to a more
Gorean take as he learns what it is to be Gorean. This creates
the famous "contradictions" that many people will speak of when they
discuss the individual quotes. There is no contradiction.
There is growth. It seems contradiction when it is taken out the
overall context and that is what sparks much of the confusion in those
trying to learn Gor. I can only suggest reading the books for
yourself and coming to your own understanding in that way.
