Well Done Johnno
Unfortunatly, im sure all the members of Goose Green will have been effected by cancer or knows somebody who has been at some point in their life. So therefore i would like to give a big thankyou on behalf of the club to our very own Johnno who raised a whopping £921.00 for Cancer Research in this years London Marathon. Well done Johnno!!! 
Cup Exit in Quarter-Final
Going up a league means a different cup competition, and without the chance to retain the Leyland Trophy for a second year, this year we faced Dalton 2nds in the Hampson Trophy. Unfortunatly we where defeated with only four balls to go, and we have been knocked out at the quarter-final stage for the first time in the Southport League era.
but now where out the cup where not giving up! we want the league! Come on Green!! 
Tesco Vouchers Final Update
If you are not already aware i have been working really hard in order to get 2,160 vouchers off people in order to obtain the club a set of spring-back wickets. I am happy to anounce that we have successfully raised that amount and we also have around 70 to bank for next year. I would like to give a big thanks to everone who has helped us with this, and we hope to have the same support for next years campaign.

Recent Infomation

New Page To Players Request
I have added a new page to the website called team line-ups 2009. This page is to see the team selection for the forth coming game if you are unable to make training or unsure wether you are in the starting line-up. This page will be updated every week as soon as I find it out myself
. So there are no more excuses to say i didn't know i was in the team because its now on the website
. Also the league table has been updated and a match report has been made for the last game against Earlestown. 
Important Info
Indoor training is now complete so we will no longer be indoor training. However, there will be a team meeting on Wednesday April 15th at 6pm at the Poacher. followed by some field training on Pony Dick weather permiting.

AGM 2009
thankyou to the ten people who managed to attend the AGM this year, those who where there will be aware that there has been no change in the non-playing side of the club, only the fact that due to personal reasons the social secretary Jane Coulshed stepped down from here position, and a new social secretary was not decided on the night, so therefore the position is still available. On the playing side of things, Steve Kirby will take the captaincy again for another year, and before the season starts would like to call a player meeting which as soon as i find out when it is you will to.

I would just like to say on behalf of Goose Green Cricket Club a huge thankyou to all the shoppers at the Spar in Worsley Mesnes for rasing a magnificent total of £388.25 from just putting your loose change into our ground development tub. We would like to thankyou all for your support and hope you will carry on rasing money in the future 
Position of Social Secretary
The position of Social Secretary is an available position at this year AGM. If you are really interested in this position please either write a letter to Clive Morgan, 1 Thoresby Close, Goose Green, Wigan, WN3 6RR in order for your name to be brought forward for election on the night or the other option is for you to turn up on the night and put yourself forward there
If you are at all interested in applying for this position, please don't hesitate to write or alert one of the Commitee members before the 30th March 
Tesco Sports Vouchers
Tesco sports for schools and clubs has started again and runs from 2nd March to 7th June 2009. We would really appreciate it, if you shop at Tesco to send your vouchers or give them to our chairman Clive Morgan or any club member, before the 26th June. Any amount of vouchers would be really appreciated, and we hope you will support us for this great cause.

2009 Fixtures
The first match to be played will be a home fixture against Earlestown on April 18th. The seasons fixtures are now on fixtures 2009 link on the menu bar at the top of the page. 
AGM 2009
This seasons AGM will be on Sunday 29th March at Highfield Cricket Club. it will start at 8pm and finnish at around 10pm. We would be very grateful if we could see all the players their to give their vote on the commitee as well as the captain. 
Hampson Cup Fixtures 2009
This season its a chance to win a different cup, following our Leyland Trophy victory last season
We have drawn Dalton at home in Round one and a home tie in the semi-final if we get there

Johnno To Run the London Marathon
One of our players Dave Johnson is running the London Marathon on 26th April 2009 for Cancer Research UK. Indoor Training
indoor training will start on Wednesday 14th January for ten weeks much earlier than normal because of player demand. It will be at Selwyn Jones sports centre in Newton-Le-Willows between 7pm and 8pm. the cost of the training will be £2 per person. We hope to see you all there and new players are more than welcome to turn up.

29/11/08- hope everyone had a fantastic christmas and i would just like to say merry christmas to everyone involved in the club and wish you all a happy new year and see you next year for another fantastic year in cricket. 
Easy Fundraising
15/11/08- our first 3 month check is through for easy fundrasing at was at a value of £28.62 thankyou so much to everyone who has raised money via shopping online, but now its coming up to christmas we would be extremely grateful if you haven't done so already to visit the site www.easyfunraising.org.uk and register an account on there and set Goose Green Cricket Club as your organisation to support and when ever you buy anything online do it via this page and we get a small amount of the money that you raise with no more expense to you apart from what you paid for the item
we would be extremely grateful if you could do this for us, and we hope we can raise more money for the club, and thankyou so much to everyone for their on going support for the club not just on the pitch but fundraising as well.
