For your information in accordance with WI Statute 29.512 we are currently working on applying for our annual fishing guide certification(s) through the Wisconsin DNR. We expect that all of our guides will be fully registered WI certified guides by January 1st 2008.
Being certified by the State of Wisconsin ensures that we are following the Wisconsin DNR fishing rules and regulations, that we are willing to follow all State and local laws, and that will have the materials and knowledge necessary to offer you a quality ice fishing experiance.

Today was our first outdoor icefishing adventure of the 2007-2008 year. The three of us -all guides- decided to do some early ice fishing. We were a little bit nervous going out on the ice this early but it work out just fine. Come to find, out most smaller lakes we fish in Northern WI have 3 inches of ice which is plenty to walk on. ( We won't take guided trips out on the ice unless there is at least 5-7 inches)
We had a fantastic experiance ice fishing before the snow storm hit us around 11am. We got our tip-ups all down about 7am and were out of minnows by 9am! We figure we had somewhere between 30 or so flags. We ended up with 3 Northern over 26 inches, 3 Large Mouth Bass over 14 inches, and a dozen nice panfish. Not bad for our first trip.

Today we decided to hit the lake early in the morning in hopes of catching some nice panfish. We ended up catching over 25 really nice Crappies and Panfish by 10:30am. Oh yea... we also caught a Northern Pike that was over 32 inches! ( Make sure to check out the photo's) The funny part is that we could have caught two Pike that size but the first one swam up the hole, broke the leader, and fell back down the hole.
There is about 5 inches of ice on the lake right now. There is also about 6 inches of semi-frozen slush on the lakes from our last snow storm.

For your information, both of our guides are now WI DNR certified until December 31st 2008. This means that we are now registered with the State of Wisconsin as professional fish guides and that we have the training, materials, and knowledge nesessary to offer you a quality guided ice fishing experiance.

Today was a fantastic ice fishing trip. None of us know an exact number of how many flags we had today but we ran out of minnows by 11am and we had over three dozen! We were running non-stop for flags all day. We ended the day with four Northerns over 24 inches and 1 nice Perch. The highlight of our trip was when a Bald Eagle picked a 20 inch Northern Pike off the ice behind our ice shack!

Well... we didn't end up with as many fish as we would have liked but we did have fun. The highlight of the trip was when one of our clients almost caught a Northern Pike that bairly fit out of the whole. It broke the steel leader right at the top of the hole. Although we didn't catch the fish, he now has a great fish story! Our other client out fished both of our guides and hadn't been on the ice for over 30 years. (I think it was beginners luck)
