Greater Manchester Pipe Band

Established 2004

Welcome to our Band website

The band was formed in January 2004 by our present Chairman, Robert Doyle. Everybody involved in the early stages of the band worked extremely hard to get things up and running including funding their own uniforms and have continued with the hardwork to keep the band going. The band wear the Irish Diaspora tartan which reflects the colours of Ireland's land and seascapes, this tartan was designed with The Irish Kilt Club in Co Laois for those of Irish blood at home and abroad.

We managed to gain funding for the bands uniforms with the support of Awards For All National Lottery Group, Voluntary Action For Manchester, Oldham and Failsworth Area Committee, and the Community Foundation.

In December 2004 we registered the band with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association allowing the band to enter the pipe band competition arena.

We are available for hire for weddings, parades, carnivals, sports events, evening events, parties, and private functions either as a full pipe band, mini band or as individual pipers to suite your event needs.

We are a non-profit making organisation and re-invest all our funding into the band to finance uniforms, instruments, practise and competitions.

If you are interested in joining the band whatever your ability we would like to hear from you, please see our contacts page for more details.
