Glynny went into this match to fulfil a fixture that we 'morally' should not have played in - however the politics of the League are not entirely in our control.

The game had to be played and we played it. A finely fought match between two good teams. Athletic took the lead through a Glynny slip in midfield but were soon pegged back by another fine goal from Kevin Gallagher.

The second half was very much an even contest and the match 'drifted' into extra time. Two very poor errors from Glynny allowed Atheltic to take a 2 goal lead into the second half of extra time. Despite the sustained efforts of Glynny we were only able to claw back 1 goal in the final stages from Mark Ruddy and were eventually consigned to plying our trade in the 2nd Division next season.
