“As noble maiden, she lived lonely in a world of shadows.”
Rohan comes from: “rann” “raen” (raem< raezn<razn; cf. gothic razn, <<house>>). This name can not be separated from its sindarins origins: Rohirrim.
Rohan was a way to soften Rochand which comes from the elvish rokko “fast horse to ride”; this word plus a suffix: Rohirrim is softened from roch + hir, “lord, master” + rim (rimbe), “host, army”.
The year 2510 of the Third Age, some riders with golden hair helped Gondor in balchoth and the battle of Celebrant, they were known as éothéod, later called Rohirrim <<lords of horses>> by gondorians.
They lived in the Valleys of the Anduin and were known for their courage.
By will of Gondor, after the battle of Celebrant, Eore the Young established his kingdom in Calenardhon which became “Rohan” and the “Mark.”
Recently, they had to defend their lands from trespassing orcs and Uruk- hai from the Isen Ford, where Prince Theodred ( King’s Theoden only son) died; also, they had to defend their lands from Umbar pirates, wild men and dunlendines that were exiled from the mountains a long time ago.
The castle was set in a mountain and that place was called Medused, the Golden Realm, with wild animals and horses sculpted in its pillars and beams.
“She knew pain and sorrow all her life but still dreamed of meeting happiness.”
Eowyn, Lady of Rohan, was daughter of Eomund, Marshal of the Mark, who was killed by orcs when she was very young. Her mother, Theodwyn, died later for the sorrow and despair that caused in her Eomund’s death.
King Theoden, Eowyn’s uncle, took her and her older brother, Eomer, to the castle bringing them up like children of his own.
But happiness didn’t last long, for Grima Wormtongue poisoned the King’s mind opening way for Saruman to control him in exchange of Eowyn.
Eowyn was thin and pale, her yellow hair felt in her shoulders like a golden river, but her face was cold and her sight as thick as steel, for no pleasure or life without worries existed in her life.
She was strong and determined like a real daughter of Kings. She had a passionate heart that was trapped in a cage within Grima’s poisonous words and her uncle’s falling spirit, she entered confusion and despair.
“She met Aragorn, future King of Gondor and loyal Dunedäin. She saw glory and knowledge within his sincere and strong will.”
