Thank you to all our generous donors!
Update: December 18, 2013
We are pleased to update you with the exciting news that our GROW-Food business incubator project will be kicking off in early 2014! The past few months have been a flurry of activity. We have been consulting with attorneys, gathering together program partners, completing our business and strategic growth plans for the project and are just about ready to roll!
Thanks to your support and the matching grant we received from Miller/Coors Foundation, we have put together the beginnings of a great project that we know will change how people think about and consume local food. In more exciting news, we have just learned that GROW-Food has qualified for support from the City of Chicago’s Neighborhood Business Development Centers Specialty Advisor’s Innovation Project Program!
We are right on target with our GROW-Food development timeline. Applications to the project will be available in early January 2014 and will be posted on www.glenwoodsundaymarket.org, www.rogers-park.com , can be picked up at Rogers Park Business Alliance’s office, 1448 W. Morse Ave., Chicago, IL or can be emailed by requesting so from firstname.lastname@example.org.
The application process will include required participation in a “so you want to be a food business entrepreneur” seminar so that we can be sure that all of our applicants understand the path that lies ahead. This will be followed by a selection process that will be based on the application, a personal interview and the results of the seminar. We expect to accept 5-7 entrepreneurs for the pilot year of the GROW-Food project, that the project will begin in April 2014 and that live product testing will begin monthly at the Glenwood Sunday Market starting June 2014.
