Book Me
Book me for speaking engagements at your event or school. Fill out the form below. I am very reasonable as far as compensation goes. I will quote you a rate after I receive your information.
Motivational speaking areas:
Child abuse education and prevention
Sexual assault education and prevention
Speaking out about abuse and assault (how and where)
self-esteem issues
suicide prevention
If you would like for me to focus on one particular area, I can do that for you.
I am also looking to speak at schools regarding:
silence about past or present child abuse, who to talk to, and how to talk to them. I know how the silence can affect grades, social life, etc. and kids need to know that there are people for them to talk to and that they have no reason to stay silent due to their needless shame.
I also want to educate on sexual assault and also focus on its prevention. I feel that through talking to young people about sexual assault, especially before heading to college, some will be less prevalent to commit it.
The same goes for child abuse prevention. I feel that if the taboo is broken and it is talked about to school-age children, that any potential abusers may be less likely to commit it in the future. I want to speak to them about how they can get help if that is something that they start thinking about.
Then there is the issue of teen suicide. Too many teens take their lives due to not feeling loved, supported, etc. I want to talk about that because being the family member of a teen who committed suicide at the age of fifteen, I know what it can do to families. Also, being a person who was suicidal as a teen, I understand the emotions that come with it and how to overcome them.
Last, I want to talk to them about the self-esteem issues that come along with all of these horrible things, but how they can boost that self-esteem.
I want to speak in schools for the young abuse survivors, the friends, and the family members of these survivors. Hopefully, a bug can be put in the ear of potential abusers and rapists to where they don't have to become an abuser or a rapist.
Although in the above outline I have high school students mainly in mind, younger grades are not out of the question. I don't believe that it is drilled into the minds of younger kids that "if someone is touching you where they aren't supposed to or making you touch them, tell a grown up even if the person doing it to you is a grown up. Even if they tell you not to tell anyone, it's okay to tell because they aren't supposed to be doing that to you. They just don't want to get into trouble." Or "If someone is hitting you (punching, slapping, arm twisting, hair pulling, kicking, etc.), tell someone because no one is supposed to hurt you like that."
I firmly believe that our kids aren't educated enough, nor do I believe that they are educated enough on how often perpetrators are caught and put in prison. I believe that through speaking to children we can prevent many lives from being destroyed.
