Ginger Gillenwater

I am a writer/novelist from Ironton, Ohio. I am married with no children (hopefully someday), but I do have an adorable little cat named Lucky who, in my opinion, is the smartest cat you'll ever meet although she lacks the modesty to not bathe her nether regions in front of guests.

I first started writing at a very young age. My first completed story was called 'Cool cats' and it was written at the mere age of eight. With that story about a bunch of kids with secret super powers, I secured first prize in a contest that awarded amusement park tickets I never used. I let them sit in my dresser drawer until they were yellow on the edges.

Aside from writing for my school newspaper and managing publication through Disney Adventures magazine, I started getting published regularly around the age of 20. It seemed that A LOT of people liked my poetry, so I ran with that fact and have had a great deal of success.

Now, before I get ahead of myself, I must tell you that I started writing my life story when I was eighteen. It wasn't like I had much of a life at that point to write about and some may feel the same way about me now since I'm only 27, but I have seen and experienced a lifetime of things. I could never finish the story and that was frustrating.

It was the summer of 2006 that I took things I had written since I was eighteen and began organizing them to the point it started to create a story. That is how Jane was born.

Now, 'Surviving Jane' will be hitting the market this fall and my second book, 'Through the Eyes of a Child' is in the works.
