Policies

Thank you for your interest in pursuing dance at Western Nevada Performing Arts Center. We have an all professional staff specializing in all styles of dance including  Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theater, Hip Hop and Lyrical. For the dancer who wants compete, we have a competition team. Competition team students are required to attend at least five classes per week, two ballet classes, and two jazz classes also team class, this does not include Tap or Hip Hop. (Tap and Hip Hop students may compete in just Tap or Hip Hop categories). We are a family studio and we try to maintain a positive environment, please avoid gossiping.  Remember - Respect, Courtesy, Commitment, Manners, don’t forget – you get what you give.

Costumes

We have a Fall Schedule posted on the information board. Next to certain classes, there will be an * this is to designate classes that will have a performance number in the Recital to be held in June. If you choose to participate in the recital, we must have your deposit of $20.00 to us no later than January 17^th , this is to ensure us enough time to order/construct the costumes. This deposit is a non-refundable fee although it may be possible to sell the costume to another student who may have joined the class later and wishes to perform in the recital. Most of the catalog costs are between $30.00 - $50.00  When we have costumes made the cost is sometimes slightly lower than the catalog. If you do not wish to perform in the Annual Recital, you must inform us by January 17^th

Fees and Tuition

Please refer to schedule for all tuition fees, NO refunds or CREDITS for missed classes, you must make up the class within the next month. If you will be gone for a week or two because of Vacation or illness we now have a discount policy for 3 weeks of classes, IF YOU MISS BECAUSE OF: - COMPANY COMING, A BAR-B-QUE, OUT OF TOWN, TOO MUCH HOMEWORK ETC… then you must make up the class.

No credits or refunds NO exceptions.

If a class is canceled because of the studio you may makeup the class in the next month, any style dance of class can be used as a make up class.  The more classes you have the more discounts you receive. Any tuition received after the 7^th of the month will be charged a $10.00 late fee.    All past due fees must be paid before competition/convention fees are sent in.  

Classroom Rules

Please be on time, a tardy student distracts the class when already in progress.

Students who are 15 minutes late or more may be asked to watch class (instructor’s choice)

No gum in class,

No food or drinks in class. (Water bottles are allowed, please you the trash receptacles to throw your bottles away)

Respect the instructors and your fellow students, any student showing disrespect to fellow students may be asked to leave the studio.

Please leave outside shoes in dressing area or Hallways this will help keep the studio clean.

Class Attire

Ballet :-  Girls

• LEVEL 1                 Pink Leotard, Pink tights or white ankle socks, pink ballet slippers.
• LEVEL 2                 Pink or Lavender leotard, Pink tights, or white ankle socks pink ballet slippers
• LEVEL 3                 Purple (Lavender) Leotard, Pink tights and pink ballet slippers
• LEVEL 4                 Burgundy Leotard, Pink tights and pink ballet slippers
• LEVEL 5                 Hunter Green Leotard, Pink tights and pink ballet slippers
• LEVEL 6                 Navy Blue Leotard, pink or black tights (footless) and pink ballet slippers
• ADV. -                     Black Leotard, pink or black tights (footless) ad pink ballet slippers

                                LONG HAIR MUST BE IN A NEAT BUN-SHORTER HAIR MAY BE IN A NEAT PONY TAIL. STUDENTS WITH SLOPPY HAIR WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN CLASS. 

Ballet:-   Boys

• LEVEL 2                 White T Shirt, black shorts, white socks and black ballet slippers
• LEVEL 3 4              White T Shirt, black shorts, white socks and black ballet slippers
• LEVEL 5                 Green TIGHT T shirt,(OR WHITE) black shorts above knee and preferably tight made of
•                                 elastic material or thin fit sweat shorts-elastic waist, or black tights, black or flesh colored ballet Shoes.
• LEVEL 6                 Navy TIGHT T shirt, (OR WHITE) - rest same as LEVEL 5
• ADV. –                    Black TIGHT T shirt –rest same as LEVEL 5
• ADULT/TEEN        Any Tight fitting dance clothes so we can see placement

                *NOTE: LEVELS 4 & UP MUST TAKE BALLET 2x A WEEK…. ONLY STUDENTS WHO TAKE 2 BALLET CLASSES A WEEK ARE ELIGIBLE FOR POINTE and PRE POINTE CLASSES POINTE CLASS MAY NOT BE SUBSTITUDED FOR A BALLET CLASS. 

• Tap: -                      Dance Pants, leotard or form fitting tank or baby T-shirt, tap shoes
•                                 Hair: - neatly tied back or in ponytail. (NO OUTSIDE CLOTHES). No shorts Unless they are dance shorts.
• Jazz: -                    Dance Pants, leotard or form fitting tank or baby T-shirt, jazz shoes
•                                 Hair: - tied back (hair may be asked to be let down during class) No shorts or Outside clothes.

                                ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS FOR ANY CLASS,

                                YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE CLASS AND WILL NOT BE ALLOWED BACK IN UNTIL YOU HAVE CORRECT ATTIRE. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE US THE EXCUSE THAT YOU DID NOT REMEMBER DANCE CLOTHES, ALSO YOU WILL STILL PAY FOR THE CLASS YOU MISSED IF YOU COME INAPPOPRIATELY DRESSED.
