The Carlisle Invitational is tomorrow guys, so make sure you are there or you will be replaced. Kevin Dingus will not make it tomorrow so Joel Stoner will be replacing him. As far as the pattern is concerned, we left that up to Stoner.
March 20th 2009
Soooo, all kinds of good stuff for tomorrow. First thing is we have our 3rd Annual Carlisle Masters Tourney starting at 10:10 and the event is double points. Second, the Eagles have just got a brand new lane machine last week so we have that to look forward to now. As for the Carlisle Invitational, bowlers will be seeded in that event based on where they finish in the points race.

FIRST TIMES A CHARM!!!
Congrats to Justin Summers and Tommy Taylor on winning the Plastic ball Doubles event this past Saturday at the the Carlisle Eagles. Normally, people coming to the eagles for the first time are happy to cash, let alone not leave looking to embarrased. That was not the case for these two young southpaws. Their team leaped into first place game #2 after Taylor fired a 268 game. During qualifying both bowlers did thier part to not shoot themselves in the foot and qualified 2nd place shooting a five game block of 1967. Leading qualifying was Dave Vulgamott and Jeremy Gilbert shooting a five game block of 2103 and was the only team to be plus through qualifying. A historic day to remember for local favorite Joseph Purdom who qualified 3rd alongside his partner Kevin Dingus with a total of 1915. Qualifying in 4th was Bill Miller and Jeremy Elliot and in 5th was Rachael Tackett and Mike Zimmerman. Match #1, Miller/Elliot defeated Zimmerman/Tackett, Match #2 Miller/Elliot squeaked by Purdom/Dingus 214 to 200. The Miller/Elliot squad wasnt so fortunate when they met up with Tommy Taylor and Justin Summers losing to the new kids 242 to 179 to put them in the finals. In the finals it was Taylor and Summers winning over Gilbert and Vulgamott 203 to 181. Very impressive for their first time at the eagles and im sure we'll be seeing more of them to come.
The points race is tight with just one event left. That event is our 3rd Annual Carlisle Masters which is double points and the best chance for those outside the cut to get inside the cut. 1st place is 100 points in the event, 2nd place 90, 3rd and 4th is 80, 5th thru 8 is 70. As of now, John Meyer sits in 11th place with 215 points and from there down is on the bubble to get in or stay in the top 16. Joel Stoner, Brent Swartzlander, Jerry Fry, Joe Purdom and even Bill Miller have a good chance at getting in with a decent finish.
In the Carlisle Masters, bowlers will be bowling 5 games across 10 lanes, (Lane condition is undecided but will be announced the day of the event). After 5 games of qualifying, the field will be cut to the top 50 percent of the bowlers and their pin fall will carry over to the next round. Those bowlers will bowl an additional three games before we then go to match play. It will be either 8 or 16 bowlers making match play, that is determined by the number of entries. Cost is $30 to enter, practice starts at 10 a.m. and that is our only squad.
This Saturday is our King of Carlisle event at the Eagles. Practice starts at 10 a.m. cost is $30...Bowling 4 games and cutting to the top 10 with high qualifier getting a bye to the finals, 2nd high qualifier getting a bye to the semi finals and the rest bowling single elimination match play.
MARCH 7th, Mark your calanders for our first ever PLASTIC BALL DOUBLES EVENT. Ball must be plastic and have a pancake weight block so make sure your plastic ball conforms to the rules or you wont be able to use it...Im sure there are some fine gems on the rack for use at the eagles, lol. Any questions contact Joe Purdom at 717-991-6454
February 10th 2009 JEREMY NAVE AND TRACY BROWN WIN THE DOUBLES EVENT!!
Congrats to Nave and Brown for taking down the doubles event this past weekend at the Carlisle Eagles on what was easily the toughest shot we have seen there ever. The field average for the event was 178 and it took only a 187 average to make the top 5 step ladder finals. Leading the tournament was Dave Vulgamott and Ozzy Lyons who were also the only team to finish plus after 5 games of qualifying. However, it was Nave and Brown who bowled great together in the finals to take down 3 teams on their way to victory. This was Nave and Browns first victory at the Carlisle Eagles. They defeated Dave and Ozzy 223 to 188 to win the event. Nave registered a 1062 for his 5 game block which was 2nd high for the day, Johnathan Bower had the highest with a total of 1102 and only 7 bowlers total averaged over 200 for the day. Finishing in 3rd place was Jerry Fry and Chris Dennis, 4th place went to Johnathan Bower and Kevin Dingus and the 5th spot went to Jeremy Gilbert and Brent Swartzlander. This win gave Nave a boost inside the top 10 in points for the season now with just 3 events to go and the last event is the Carlisle Masters worth double points. The race for 16th is hotter than ever with bowlers 5 to 10 points from being in or out of the cut.
Saturday February 21st we will be having another King of Carlisle Event. Bowlers will bowl 4 games and we will cut to the top 10. The leader has a bye to the finals and 2nd high qualifier has a bye to the semi finals. Bowlers in 3rd through 10th will bowl single elimination match play. Cost is $30 to enter and practice starts at 10 a.m.

ANTHONY STEBBINS MAKES FIRST WIN AT THE EAGLES A MAJOR!!!!
Anthony Stebbins wanted to make the best of a unfortunate situation from the previous week...Going into the last game of qualifying in the King of Carlisle Event last week, Stebbins was in 4th place and had spare and 3 strikes in a row until he was called into the hospital for an emergency surgery where his presence was required. Stebbins shrugged it off and came back the next weekend with unfinished business, however he did it the hard way. Stebbins rolled a 643 for his 3 game block to put him into a tie for 8th place with Mike Zimmerman. Stebbins defeated Zimmy in a one game roll off to get into match play where he would face the tournament leader Kevin Dingus. Dingus tore up the lanes in qualifying shooting 280, 239, and 215 for a 734. Dingus stayed sharp against Stebbins but it wasnt good enough...Dingus fired away with a 248 to lose to Anthonys 279 game, OUCH! Dingus came back and won game #2, and in final game it was Stebbins who ended Dingus's hopes of a first win by defeating him by ONE pin. I dont know who's life Stebbins saved last week, but he must of had a couple of angels watching over him at the carlisle eagels that day...Speaking of that, Stebbins next match was against defending champion, Jeremy Gilbert on a pair that featured sub 200 games from Kyle Hatter and Kevin Smith...Stebbins defeated Gilbert 216 to 181 and moved onto the finals to face Johnathan Bower. It came down to the 10th frame and Johnathan needed a double to win, but a 10 pin stood on his second shot and Stebbins was victorious shooting 228 to 221. Stebbins won $300, Bower 150, Gilbert and Swartzlander 75 each, Kevin Smith, Bill Miller, Chris Dennis, and Kevin Dingus each received $45....There were 33 total entries in the event and we paid out the top 8 bowlers....The win for Anthony shot him up in points from 30th to 12th place. They werent the only big movers in points this past week, Rachael Tacket and Kevin Dingus now find themselves in the top 16 in points after our Super Bowl event.
We have 4 more regular season events before our Carlisle Invitational which is April 18th and includes our top 16 bowlers from points. This coming Saturday is a doubles tournament with practice starting at 10 a.m. Cost is 30 per bowler...With the last tournament being a major, that means double points so get ready for a tight exciting points race for those last 7 or 8 spots!!!

SMITH CRUISES TO POINT LEAD AFTER CAPTURING 4TH TITLE OF THE SEASON
Kevin Smith recaptured the lead in the points race this past Saturday winning the King of Carlisle Event, and improved his winning percentage to 57 percent, while Kyle Hatters is 50 percent, to think those two are doubles partners. The day started out slow for Smith who at one point had 122 in the 7th frame but got things started from there by striking out for a 212. Furthermore, Smith rallied for games of 238, 236, and 246 to qualify 2nd place; By qualifying 2nd, Smith positioned himself well only needing to win 2 matches to take the crown. From there, Smith went from cruise control to OVERDRIVE! Smiths first match came against Dave Vulgamott who had just rolled 233, and 234. Smith defeated Vulgamott 233 to 204 and moved onto the finals to face the tournament leader Jerry Fry...Fry's low game in qualifying was 227 but sat for over an hour before facing Smith...Smith rode his wave of high games and delivered a 279 game to Fry's 187. Other notable mentions from the event went to Kyle Hatter once again on finishing 4th place in the event and also Jason Snyder whos low game of the day was a 212 and finished in the 5th and 6th position with Brent Swartzlander. Rounding out the top 10 was Jeremy Nave, Carl Meechum, Tim Dennis and Tony Davenport. The event had a total of 31 bowlers with the top 10 making match play; It took a 202.8 average to make match play this past weekend and we paid out 8 spots....Our next event is the Super Bowl which kicks off this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and also an 11 a.m. squad is available...Cost is 35, 30 to re enter...

THE MAD HATTER STRIKES AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If its not Kyle and Kevin winning a doubles event this year, it seems like its Kyle or Kevin winning a singles event...Congrats to Kyle Hatter on winning the 5 game sweeper at the Carlisle Eagles January 10th. With this win, The Mad Hatter is agruably the hottest bowler at the Carlisle Eagles this season. To back it up, Hatters winning percentage at the Eagles is a staggering 60 percent!!! Having bowled in only 5 events, Hatter finds himself in 3rd place in the points race. Kyle bowled consistent all day with his low game being 192 and his high game of 237 and qualifying score of 1103 for 5 games which qualified him to 3rd. It took a 214.6 average to make the top 5 this week and our bubble boy was Scott Greenwood shooting 1073. He faced 2nd time bowler from York, Ben Marvel...Greenwood defeated Marvel 222 to 179 and then came the wrath of the Mad Hatter...Hatter defeated Greenwood 242 to 191 and then faced Brent Swartzlander. Hatter defeated Brent 201 to 177. Hatter then met up with Jason Snyder of York for the final match. Snyder who has also been hot all year was looking to capture his first win of the season but fell short when Kyle defeated him 246 to 186. Snyder did however take the lead in the points race for the season.......We had a total of 20 bowlers and the top 5 cashed...Kyle took home 200 for his win Saturday...
Our next event will be on January 24th and the event is yet to be determined...It will be Single and the cost is $30....The following week we will be having our 1st of 2 majors this year...The Super Bowl which we will host here on Sunday with two qualifying squads...We had to compress the event this year due to scheduling....The first squad is at 8:30 a.m. and the second squad of qualifying is at 11 a.m. We will re oil between 8a.m. and 11:30...We are taking the top 8 or 16 scores overall based on entries. Bowlers making match play will be seeded based on where they qualified. Cost is $35, re-entry is $30...Let myself (Jeremy) or Joey Purdom know if you are interested in bowling.
December 29th, 2008
Congrats to Kevin Smith and Kyle Hatter on defending their title by winning the doubles tournament this past weekend...The boys qualified 2nd in the event and defeated Dan Gordon and Jeremy Gilbert to then face the tourneys # 1 seed, Chris Green and Jim Tomek Jr. Dave Vulgamott and Luke Smith finished 4th and Steve Sneidman and Mike Runk finished 5th...There were 22 teams with the top 5 making step ladder finals. Our points will be updated later this week...Im currently out of the area and wont be able to update the points until possibly the weekend unless Joey P can get me the info...Keep checking back in case!!! Next Event is Janurary 10th and is a 5 game sweeper....
December 22nd,
Hey bowlers...This Saturday at 10 a.m. we will be having a doubles tourney...Cost to enter is $60 per team...Bowlers will bowl 5 games across 10 lanes and we are then cutting to the top 5 teams for step ladder finals bowling baker style...We currently have 17 teams signed up and are going up to 25....
Our last tournament went to Brad Hoffman who defeated Cory Smith...Brad earned the #1 spot by going 5 and 0 in match play and awaited the top bowler from the losers bracket...Cory Smith took game #1 against Hoffman but Brad made an adjustment that proved to be very wise shooting 254 to 245 to defeat Cory and win $200 and become the 2nd bowler this season to win more than 1 event. 3rd place went to Steve Dorsey, 4th went to Jason Snyder...
November 24th, 2008 KEVIN SMITH DOES IT AGAIN!!!!!!
Congrats to Kevin Smith on winning the Turkey Shootout this past Saturday!! Smith, who was our current points leader proved this past weekend that its no fluke. During our 3 games of qualifying Smith owned the field shooting an 802 which was our first 800 ever in an eagles event and 72 pins ahead of 2nd place...15 bowlers made the first cut which took a 3 game total of 611...5 bowlers weren't so fortunate shooting 610 and missing by 1 pin. Our top 4 bowlers that advanced directly to match play were: Kevin Smith, Jeremy Gilbert, Pat Nolan, and Cory Smith... 11 other bowlers had to bowl 2 more games fighting for 4 spots...Going into those 2 games, the cut sat at +62 which was Tim Dennis. After the two games, Tim Dennis got the 5th spot, Luke Smith claimed the 6th spot, Jason Snyder grabbed the 7th spot, and there was a tie for 8th between John Blessing and Dave Vulgamott which came down to a 9th and 10th frame roll off in which John was victorious...Kevin Smith defeated John Blessing 2 games to 0, Jason Snyder defeated Jeremy Gilbert 2 games to 1, Luke Smith defeated Pat Nolan 2 games to 0, and Tim Dennis defeated Cory Smith 2 games to 0......One of Kevin Smiths key points in the event was what he did against Tim Dennis on lanes 5 and 6 which appeared to be junk after the first round of match play. Furthermore, Kevin rolled a 258 to Timmys 228 which was more than good enough to get to the finals to face off Jason Snyder. The finals was exciting to say the least...Smith and Snyder finished their 10 frames with a score of 211. Snyder fell short when he left a 4-6-7 split on the first shot in the 10th on the roll off.
There were 29 bowlers in the event and we paid out the top 8 spots. Our next event is on December 13th @ 10 a.m., this event is a double elimination tourney and is 100 percent match play. I will hopefully have the points list updated by tomorrow so keep checking back for those updates.
November 12th, 2008
Congrats to K squared, the combo featuring Kevin Smith and Kyle (the mad)Hatter on winning our 2nd Doubles Event this past Saturday. The boys qualified in the #3 position after posting a 5 game total of 2088. During qualifying they were right around the cut all day until the 4th game came when they shot 376, dropping them out of the top 5. However, letting one bad game ruin their day wasnt in their plans at all, furthermore, the boys finished game 5 by shooting 461 to get them into the mix. When Step ladder finals got underway they added some more fuel to their blazing engines and defeated the crowd favorites, Christy Doerflinger and Sean Carson 256 to 218. The next match they defeated Joel Stoner and Ben Griffith 215 to 191, and for the Final match they defeated Steve Dorsey and Scott Greenwood 222 to 169. K squared split 370 dollars for their win on Saturday.
We had a total of 17 teams on Saturday, however we still paid out 5 team spots through raising 117 dollars during the event!! During qualifying Steve Dorsey and partner Scott Greenwood set the lanes on fire! They combined for a 5 game total of 2181 which was 85 pins over the next spot making it the biggest margin ever from 1st to 2nd in our doubles events. Dorsey and Greenwood just never got it going in the finals but still bowled outstanding. Christy Doerflinger and Sean Carson became crowd favorites when they snagged the 5th and final spot into our step ladder finals...The first match went to Doerflinger and Carson when they defeated Brad Hoffman and Beth Kirkpatrick 243 to 207 but they ran into the Mad Hatter and Smith and lost 256 to 218. Dave Vulgamott accomplished a pretty cool feat by becoming the first bowler to have the highest qualifying pinfall in back to back doubles tournaments...Dave shot a 5 game total of 1143, the last event dave led with a 5 game block of 1158 so be on the lookout at our Turkey shootout November 22nd for Dave!!!
October 26th, 2008
Congrats To Brad Hoffman on winning the 5 Game Event at the Carlisle Eagles. Hoffman, who qualified 6th to get into the 1 game shootout bowled fairly consistent all day. After his 2nd game of 247 boosted him into the top 3, he rode out a 590 for his last 3 games which was good enough to give him a shot into the shootout. Hoffman had his work cut out for him having to bowl against Kevin Smith, Dan Gordon, and Joel Stoner in the shootout...Furthermore, it took a 205 average for the 5 games to make the top 8. Hoffman led the shootout with a 234 game, and followed that up by defeating Jeremy Gilbert 277 to 235...He then went on to beat Chris Dennis, Jason Snyder, and in the final match he defeated Steve Sneidman 218 to 168. Hoffman receieved $200 for his 1st place showing.
There were 22 bowlers for the event with the top 8 making finals, 5th thru 8th bowled a 1 game shootout with the winner advancing to the step ladder finals and the top 5 bowlers cashing. Steve Sneidman dominated the field for the 5 games of qualifying averaging nearly 222, but couldnt get things going against a red hot Brad Hoffman in the final match.
Our next event will be November 8th and will be a Doubles Event. $60 per team with a payout of 1 and 4...First place team receives $400 with 25 teams.

Congrats to Dan Gordon and Jeremy Gilbert on winning the Doubles tourney this past weekend at the Carlisle Eagles!! Dan pretty much carried Jeremy who started out plus 100 after 2 and went minus 100 for his last 3 games...Dan had the 3rd highest total of anyone shooting plus 130 for his 5 games. Gordon doubled in the 10th frame and got 9 pins to lockout Dave Vulgamott and Wyatt Voltz to capture victory shooting 206 to 204 in a hard fought out match. Finishing in 3rd place was John Meyer and Don Curry, 4th went to Jason Snyder and Mike Morse and the 5th and final cash spot belonged to Kevin Smith and Kyle Hatter.
There were 19 teams for the event and we paid out 5 team spots, it took a 209.9 avg to cash and make the finals. Leading qualifying by a nice margin was Dave Vulgamott and Wyatt Voltz shooting 2210, almost 80 pins over the 2nd spot. Vulgamott took top honors for highest single qulaifying score of plus 158, followed closely by Mike Zimmerman who was also on fire with plus 148 for his 5 games.
Our next event will be October 25th with practice starting at 10 a.m., cost is 30 dollars to bowl. Its a 5 game singles eliminator. After 5 games of qualifying, the top 8 bowlers will advance to finals...Bowlers from 5th to 8th place will bowl in a 1 game shootout with the high game advancing to bowl the 4th seed, and we will proceed there with a normal step ladder finals. Field is limited to 50 bowlers so if you want to bowl, contact Jeremy or Joe...717-991-6454, or 717-385-1962.
With at least 20 entries, 1st place is guarranteed 200 to win!!!
June 9th
Before i get into the details of this Saturdays Carlisle Invitational, i have to recap a little bit about Saturday evening...Joey Purdom's Bachelor party was Saturday night in Atlantic City and what a party it was...If you guys see Joe between now and the end of the week, he probably isn't walking to well. I have never in my life seen a worse beating...We all chipped in a total of $100 to get Joe on stage at this strip club where the girls aren't topless
There were 3 girls on stage with Joe, and we knew they were going to belt him a few times....At first, it was playful, typical lapdance and whatnot, then poor joe was crawling around on the stage with one belt around his neck looking like big brown in turns 3 and 4 of the Belmont
Then the beatings started, and we kept throwing in money so they would keep it up...Oh yeah, Joe was down to just his boxers which had been pulled up to look like a wrestling outfit, they ripped them all up...Our buddy Sevi had a belt with what appeard to be a licsense plate on the end of it...Oh yes, they hit him with that end of the belt and it might have been the funniest thing i have ever seen, at least for a few moments...Near the end we all started feeling bad because they must have hit Joe about 15 times straight and he was held down flat on his stomach screaming, "NOOOOO, OUCHHHH, STOPPPP, NOOOOOO", When i looked at the other guys and they werent laughing anymore we had to signal for them to stop...When it was all said and done, Joe had no more boxers, A lacerated foot which bled for the rest of the night, and battle scars from his stomach to his ass.
Okay....Saturday's Carlisle Invitational for those who qualified, the event starts at 10 a.m. cost is $30 for the guys that didn't win a major...Bowlers will bowl 3 games and we will seed everyone based on your total...Then we go to a double elimination bracket with the first two rounds being best of 3 game matches, the rest is single game matches.
June 2nd, 2008
Can you guys say REPEAT!!!! Steve Sneidman sure can after defending his title by winning the Carlisle Masters two years in a row. Since he won last year and we have only had 2, Steve had to present himself with the green jacket and put it on by himself, lol...Ok not really but here is a rundown of the day. We had 33 bowlers total for both of our squads so we were paying out the top 8. It took a 190.25 average to make the top 8. John Meyer was the lucky guy that edged out Jason Snyder by 5 pins and Mike Freundel by 6. Leading the event after qualifying was our hometown newlywed Jerry Fry who shot an 874, followed closley by Kevin Smith with 872...from the there, the numbers dropped pretty considerable. Mike Runk--835, Steve Sneidman--813, Jason Smith--792, Bob Derr--779, Dave Vulgamott--768, and John Meyer--761. When we got into match play, the guys who scored good the first time around continued their dominance. Furthermore, the top 4 seeded players defeated the bottom 4 seeded players which is the first time that this happended at the Eagles. Steve Sneidman and Kevin Smith met up in the final match and Steve came out victorious with a 228 to Kevins 195. Steve took home 400 while Kevin received 150 for his efforts. We added $200 to our prize fund to make sure the people cashing had a worth while pay day.
Now for our exciting points race...What a day this was for points guys and gals!!! I want start off by congratulating Mike Runk and Jim Knox on qualifying for the Carlisle Invitational...Jim has missed the last 4 events and started the day 25 points out knowing he needed a good day. Jim was battling a back injury from the 1st frame of the 2nd game and was able to hang in there to get 40 points which was just enough to get him to the CIT. Mike Runk on the other hand was in a much tougher situation...Not only did he have to at least make top 8, he needed those ahead of him to not do as well as he did. Runk was able to finish in the 3rd/4th spot to get 80 points which gave him 215 points. Details will be updated by mid week as far as the June 14th tournament is concerned...Start time is still 10 a.m. Full results of the Carlisle Masters will be posted tomorrow, points are updated. Congrats to everyone that made the Carlisle Invitational, and sorry if i spelled half of this article wrong, flying by the seat of my pants....

JOEL STONER WINS HIS FIRST TITLE AT THE CARLISLE EAGLES!!!
Hats off to Joel Stoner for winning the 5 Game Eliminator today at the Carlisle Eagles. Joel qualified 4th with a five game score of 1097 putting him against the 5 seed Jeremy Monninger. Monninger took the match to 3 games but ran out of gas near the end and Stoner moved on. Stoners next match came on the toughest pair of the day against Pat Nolan where both bowlers struggled shooting under 200 with Joel being victorious to head to the finals. In the final match we had Joel Stoner against Steve Dorsey who was looking to go back to back since missing his last event. In the end, the day belonged to Joel Stoner who has been long overdue for a victory at the Eagles...Joel defeated Steve 209 to 185 to claim 1st.
In todays event we had 26 bowlers and we ended up paying out the top 8 places. It took took a 214.2 average to make match play today. Kevin Smith ran the field over in qualifying putting together a hefty 1201 for his 5 game block. Anthony Stebbins was no slouch either posting a score of 1147 and close behind him was Steve Sneidman who just returned from the DL to shoot a 1144, not bad. John Henderson who last week rallied from the 8th spot tried once again to repeat but came up short when Smith doubled in the 10th frame to lock out Hendersons chances of a game 3. Here is how our top 8 finished.
1st--Joel Stoner, 2nd--Steve Dorsey, 3rd and 4th--Kevin Smith and Pat Nolan, 5th-8th--Anthony Stebbins, Steve Sneidman, Jeremy Monninger, and John Henderson. On another side note, Jerry Fry who just got married last weekend and also returned from the DL just missed match play by 3 pins.
Our season ending tournament is coming up quick, The 2nd Annual Carlisle Masters on Saturday May 31st with two squads of qualifying (9 a.m., and 1 p.m.) with the top 25 % of the field overall making it to round 2 with pin fall carrying over. Bowlers will then bowl 4 games and we will cut to the top 8 bowlers and go to match play. The first round will be best of 3 game matches and the rest will be single elimination. The lanes will be playing tough so make sure you bring your spare game with you!! For those who are in the points race dont forget, this event is double points being that its a major event. The points list will be updated sometime tomorrow. Anyone interested in bowling a particular squad can call me @ 717-385-1962
