Gidgegannup Horse and Pony Club is affiliated with the Pony Club Association of Western Australia. Their aims and goals include:
Aims and Objectives of the Pony Club:
To encourage young people to ride and learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horse and riding.
To provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instil in members the proper care of their animals.
To promote the highest ideals in sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self-discipline.
In our dealings with the riders, in order of importance:
The SAFETY of the riders.
The COMFORT of the horse.
The ENJOYMENT of the rider.
The TRAINING of their character.
Rallies are held at the Gidgegannup Show Grounds which is located off Old Coach Road (turn left off Toodyay Rd when going in an Eastern direction) on the left hand side. Facilities the club has to offer include:
· A club house with a canteen that is open on rally days and all other club events.
· Large arena areas.
· An enclosed arena for young riders.
· A national level Cross Country course
· Stabling facilities onsite.
· Toilet facilities.
· A large equipment store.
· Easy access to the grounds and good parking.
Rallies occur on the 2nd Sunday of each month starting at 9.45am finish around 3pm. At rallies, Riders are placed into groups according to age and ability and the levels they have attained. Each rally day children need to check the noticeboard outside the clubhouse to find out where they will be, who their coach is and what their programme.
