This Tactic has produced Hundreds of 5 lb. Plus Bass for me over the Decades before The "Prime" Feeding Hours actually occur. These bass are semi-active fish waiting in ambush while burrowing in cover. On waters containing the gene pool to produce giant bass in the Northeast, boating pigs that surpass the 7 lb. mark is not uncommon.
As the Summer Peak is just ready to start, and right on thru the peak of this precious time frame offers the best Buzzbaiting opportunity of all the seasonal peaks. Giant bass are usually fully recovered from the spawn and gorging themselves on huge schools of bait. Ripping buzzers along inside and outside edges of expansive flats can be the most exciting and productive tactic throughout the peak warm water period. This spawned out but activley feeding 24 inch fish crushed a large buzzbait combo over dense coontail beds. The largest bass in any system will lie in wait as surface presentations cruise over holes in pockets on heavily vegetated expansive flats.. Giant bass will explode thru small open pockets for presentations with the perfect retrieve speed.
ALTHOUGH THIS IS USUALLY A SUMMER PATTERN, FISHING CRANKBAITS AT NIGHT CAN TAKE QUALITY FISH FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE SPAWN THRU THE FALL PEAK PERIOD. TARGET DEEP STRUCTURES WITH CRANKS THAT RUN FROM 12 TO 20 PLUS FEET. TARGETING MID-LAKE STRUCTURES, BRUSH PILES, TREES, STEEP SHELVES AND BOULDER AREAS AT NIGHT CAN ADD SOME QUALITY NIGHT BASS TO YOUR SEASONAL TOTAL.

Pictured in the bottom two photos above are some quality Deep Water Bass taken from 33 to 48 feet of water from a reservoir in Southern Utah. Bass in deep Canyon Reservoirs during the Summer months tend to hold on deep water structures and suspend throughout the water column. Target bass set up in 30 to 70 feet with an array of presentations that are specific to the positioning of the bass.Take into consideration the forage that the specifically locating bass are feeding on.
