Ghost Gum Valley (GGV) Paints & Pintos

Temperament, Conformation & Colour = Perfection!!

***BREAKING NEWS***

*Horrace's first crop of foals are now 3 years old and starting their saddle careers.  A few have been started by their 'first time at breaking in' owners without giving them many hassles.  All the bubs are doing the family here at Ghost Gum Valley very proud, no matter what the chosen discipline.

Also, some of our youngstock are competing at shows with their new owners, and Horrace was all scrubbed up for an outing at the Colourama Spectacular in March 2009, bringing home Champions.  All the results are now listed on their own Show Results page as the tally was starting to clog up the bottom of the For Sale page.  A huge congratulations for the time and effort put in by the new owners of our youngstock, and I really enjoy coming along to the shows to cheer you on.

An Extra Special Mention

An extra special mention goes to the ladies who take the photos for me to put on the website.  Please see the Photography page for contact details of each one.  A huge thank you goes out to these ladies for their talent and love of horses, which comes out so clearly in all the fantastic photos they've taken out here

Our Tobiano Dun Paint Stallion, "Tiriwas DoubleNup"

"Horrace" is our Paint stallion (PHAA 8113). He's approximately 15.1hh, with a faultless temperament and he is a sucker for cuddles, carrots and grooming - he's gotta look good for his ladies! :) He attended his first show when he was 2 yrs old and placed third in the colt 2 year and under halter class, and attended the 2009 Colourama Spectacular, bringing home first and champion in the Paint, Pinto and Broken Coloured Dilute stallion 4 years and over classses. His sire is the imported dun Paint stallion "QT Dunupdouble" who is a homozygous Tobiano, and his dam is the Quarter horse "Millers Kahlua". His foals inherit his kind, willing to please nature, good solid conformation and in most cases unusual colouring.

He has also proved to be gentle soul with children, and he's pictured below with a friend's 11 year old daughter, enjoying a cuddle.

Rathdowney Heritage Festival 2008

We attended the Rathdowney Heritage Festival in 2008 (unfortunately it was cancelled due to bad weather in 2009) with Maggie (my main riding mare), Angel (our mare in foal to Horrace), and one of Horrace's foals from 2006, Casino.  The day was a huge success, the horses behaved beautifully, and my niece, Taylah, looked a picture on Maggie, all done up in her show gear.  A HUGE thanks goes out to all who helped us prepare for the day and carry the banner, lead horses, calm my nerves and take photos.    Unfortunately it was a bit overcast, and the photos are a bit dark - but I was pleased there was no sun beating down on us to burn us to crisps.

Our Home

We live on 150 acres in the picturesque area of Palen Creek, which is in South East QLD, near the NSW Border Ranges. We back onto a state foreset and have an abundance of birds and other wildlife. The views are spectacular and our rainfall is quite high compared to surrounding areas. This, combined with good black soil, means we are never short on good quality grass (touch wood) and hopefully our new dams will stay full. Winter brings some freezing temperatures and lots of frosts though, and winds howl off the surrounding mountains, making in front of the pot belly stove a good place to be :o)
