Ghostbusters Oz is Dead
There it is. The film is not going ahead.
Simply put, we bit off way more than we could chew. I wrote a script that, while we all agreed was a really good script, was just way too ambitious for the resources we had available. We've moved on since then, we're working on different projects and a fan film of this size is just not a good idea at this time.
So there you have it. The film is dead. Sorrry to anyone who was looking forward to it in any way.

05/04/07 - Props, props and more props.
I'm starting to wish we had just done the Superman movie. All you need is a pair of tights.
Tony and I have been making ourselves absolutely insane with prop creation. We have been updating and finishing off our Proton packs (mine looks better!) and they're looking pretty good. I have to admit, I'm enjoying working on mine.
We also have constructed, and take notes here: Our containment unit, our ecto-goggles, our giant sized trap, our new uniforms, our PK meter, Tony's "wall of conspiracy" and we have people working on Bill's "Handy-saws" - wait for the movie.

09/02/07 - Everything old has been updated again.
Welcome to the new site.
Needs some refinement, I will admit. But I like it. On to the news.
We now have our Proton packs. Our friendly neighborhood cabinet maker has delivered two completed packs and four proton wands. They look great. He's made a few alterations - mostly just to make life easier on himself. This things are complicated! - and we still have to paint them and 'pimp them up*' but they are now here. So hopefully, very soon, we'll be able to go out and finnish the opening scene, among others. Speaking of which, I've done the editing on the first scene of the film. It looks really good and has cleaned up nicely. I still have to add some sound effects and clean up the soundtrack, but it seems to be working out well. I just hope the rest of the film works out this well.
I'm also - and this may sound stupid - but I've almost got a complete draft of the script finished. Tony and I have been refining scenes and trying to streamline the story as much as possible. The only thing is, the bloody thing nearly feature length. Once everything's done, we're going to go in and try and par things down a considerable bit. I originally only wanted this to be about a half hour film, but it just sort of grew.
And to cap things off, we've put in the orders for our new jumpsuit's. They're being made up for us as we speak. I just need to get my hands on a half decent pair of boot and some gloves and we're away.
* I will admit, I'm getting distressed at how often the phrase "Pimp it up" is working it's way into my vocabulary.

08/01/07 - Happy New Year
Thank god for New Year Sales.
My Local Mac store was having a sale which included 3 years interest free terms. So I have ordered and paid for my new computer - The new Mac Pro Tower - and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. They're custom built now, so it has to be sent from the manufacturer. I also picked up a copy of Final Cut Express to edit on. It's not the pro version, but then again it's not 2 and a half thousand dollars either.
Our shooting of the opening scenes has been completed. All - hopefully - of Chris and Amie's scenes have been shot. Tony and I need to go back and shoot all of our scenes, but that can wait until we get the final Proton Packs completed. Our Friendly Neighborhood Cabinet Maker is still diligently working away on those. My Pseudo Pack, that I made out of cardboard and miscellaneous junk, stood in for a few scenes. It did it's job. It was just meant so we had something on our backs in the few scenes we were in with Chris and Amie.
The learning curve on this has been extraordinary. We're doing things now that I've always sort of glossed over. This is the first time I've ever tried to professionally light a scene, which is quite tough and takes some time. We were also going to try and record sound professionally, having acquired a Mini disk player and other equipment for that. Unfortunately, the player wouldn't accept any of the blank discs we bought and we didn't have time to mess around with it too much. Truly pissed off about that. I've also managed to do a rough edit of the first scene with Amie and it's not looking too bad. Showed to a handful of people and the general consensus is it's working quite well. We'll see how well it turns out after I've managed to clean it up, fix the sound and cut it together properly.
Also in the Photos section, we have shots of the Chris and Amie shoot, the Pseudo Pack, and the two vehicles we have use of for Ecto Mobiles. My god, it's like we're actually making a movie!

10/12/06 - And we're rolling
Camera's have finally started rolling on GBOZ. Two of my potential cast - Amie Favier and Chris Dominguez - announced to me that they were moving to Wagga in early January. As upset as I was to hear two of my best friends were leaving, I was also thrown into disarray because the entire opening sequence of the film involves both them and the place they are living in now. So a mad dash was put on to get to a point where we could get their scenes shot. This past Saturday we were able to start. We didn't get much done, due to time constraints, and I'm becoming more and more aware of the constraints my camera has. I can't really edit it together just yet, as I'm still waiting for my new computer - come on march! - so I'm not really sure how well it's turned out. The next few weekends - I only get one day off on weekends unfortunately - will be spent "hopefully" getting their entire scenes shot. We have till the 9th of next month, so keep your fingers crossed.
While we we're shooting, Tony has been running around with a second camera recording some behind the scenes stuff, which will hopefully be up on Youtube very soon. We're going to try and do something akin to what Peter Jackson did with King Kong, and keep fairly regular diaries of GBOZ's production. Anything to try and garner up more interest.
I've also been working on a mock proton pack. this is just a temporary thing, mostly made from cardboard and junk, which we are going to use as a stand in and a prop pack. It's never going to be used in any sort of close up, so it can be forgiven for it's slightly shoddiness. Safety tip for the day? Hot glue is REALLY HOT!!!!! Don't touch it! I'll be putting some photo's of it's construction up on the site as well. All of the GB photo's we are taking are being transferred over to Flickr. We've only got a limited amount of space with this site, so we have to find ways of cutting back. I'm going to be doing an update of this site and a huge revamp of it's parent site, Swashbuckler Studios, in the very near future. Stay tuned for that.

5/11/06 - Finally!!!
God, i feel like we're actually making some progress on this damn thing.
We have Traps!! Our extremely talented Cabinet maker, Robert Narratar, has delivered some of the spankiest looking ghost traps around. Built with plans created by Venkman71 of The Ghostbusters Project (www.gbproject.com), we now have 4 traps and a carry case for them. We have pictures on the Photo's page.
Also, our initial jumpsuit's have been completed. The GBOZ logo and nametags were embroidered and Tony spent an enjoyable - his words, not mine - sewing them onto the jumpsuit's. We messed around and got some shots of us wearing the suits, and I have to tell you. We look pretty damn spiffy. Standing there wearing the jumpsuit, I felt like Louis Tully in GB2, screaming "I'm a GhostBuster!!!". Our secondary Jumpsuit's are still being made, but since any shooting in those suits is a ways off, there is no great hurry.
We even took a brief wander around in local Penrith in the suits to try and drum up some interest. People, it seems, are huge fans of the new logo I created, and we're really impressed with the jumpsuit's. Now all we are waiting on are our back packs, which the afore mentioned Robert is currently in the midst of creating. We're hoping to have the first scene shot by years end.
We also have our hands on two vehicles to double as Ectomobile's. We have the early, low budget "Craptomobile" and a later vehicle for when we are being "Funded". We have a store making up logo's to go on the sides and bonnet of the cars, and we're working on building some sort of top for the later vehicle.
As for the site, I've added an early credit list for the film on the plot page. The only cast are myself and Tony, along with two or three others that have been confirmed in their roles. I won't even think about casting until I've finished with the script and we're all ready to go. Although, if there is anyone out there in the Sydney area who would be interested in being in the film, drop me a line or leave a note in the Guest book. I'm open to any one who would like to help out.

25/9/06 - One outlet to another
The last several weeks have all been spent on the countdown to Supanova, which is the Sydney Comic Book Con. Both Tony and I are Comic Book Creators, so we had to prepare for the con. That doesn't mean that we haven't had any progress on GBOZ.
Tony has found a Carpenter who got quite excited about helping out with the film in any way. We've given him the plans and what work we had done on the proton packs, and he is taking over the construction for us. I've gotten a few more character designs done - one of which is up in the artwork section - and Tony is in contact with a puppet maker to create some of the Ghosts for us.
This film is going to take a lot longer to create than I first thought, but hopefully, in the end, we'll have something memorable.

7/9/06 - Tougher than it looks
Tony has been working his butt off, meeting and greeting people who are intrested in helping out on the film in different ways. We have a lady who does embrodiry who is helping us out on the new and improved GBOZ jumpsuits. We've done a small redesign on the suits for GBOZ, so it seperates it from other GB projects. Same as the redesign for the No Ghosts symbol. Even though this is a Fan film, I really want to make this as unique as possible.
I've also started work on the teaser trailer. Hopefully this will build up some enthusiasm with the fans. I have some more Design sketches to upload, and will have some photos very soon.
We're also on the lookout for what we call the "Ecto-Ute". We need a white ute that someone wouldn't mind us absconding with for several weeks. Either that or access to a cheap one we can purchase. If anyone has any suggestions, contact us via the contact page. I've also put up a guest book, so leave any messages and suggestion on there.

30/8/06 - Additions and Motivations
Ok, so I've set up the paypal account so it can accept donations. Click on the Contribute page if you would like to help out. This is a film by fans for the fans. Any help we can get to make this the amazing film experience we want it to be will truly be appreciated.
We also have our first cast member other than Myself and Tony. A lovely and talented lady who is going to be playing not just one, but two of the Ghosts the GBOZ go after. I'm really looking forward to working with this magical lady, and am already truly sorry for all the crap I'm going to put her through.
We're actually going to start filming a lot earlier than I though we would. Two friend of mine who had agreed to be in the film have suddenly announced that they are moving away to Wagga, which is about a 4 hour drive from Sydney. So I have to get their part shot as soon as possible. I'm going to try and get a carpenter friend of mine to help out construction on the packs to get them completed a lot faster. We have until Early january to get their scenes shot, so rather a large fire has been lit under our collective asses.
More soon.

21/8/06 - Taming the Savage beast
I'm starting to think Tony has a gift for producing that he never realised before.
So far, Tony has managed to rustle up possible Sponsorship, Location permission, some props that we will need for the film and even a new version of the theme song. Yes Punters, we are going to have our very own version of Ray Parker Jr's hit song to go with our movie. I'm not going to release the name of the band as yet - mostly because I don't know it - but they have gotten very excited to be doing it and have begun rehearsing as we speak. They're also trying to incorporate some "Land Down Under" at my request. I'm really looking forward to hearing what they come up with.
Construction has also begun on the Proton Packs. Very, very slow construction. I'm not a carpenter by any means, so it takes me twice as long to create something as would anyone trained. But we're working off some of the best plans the Internet can deliver, created by none other than Paranorman. He has his own site with plans for packs, or you can commission him to build one for you. It would probably work out better if we got him to create ours, but since he is based in the states, the cost is off putting.
Also, I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of Lightwave 3D v8. I need a full, legitimate copy with a working Dongle. There's been a few on e-bay, but for some reason no one is willing to ship to Australia, which I can't understand why. If anyone can help, head for the contact page.
One final note: Hank Braxtan has a trailer available for his feature length GB fan film, "Return of the Ghostbusters" available on his web site. This looks like it's going to be an amazing Fan film and I for one am really looking forward to it. it's available here. Congrats Hank. Hank has really grown as a film maker in the last few years and it looks like this is going to be his triumph.

14/8/06 - Welcome!!!
Well, I guess this makes it official. Welcome to our brand new Ghostbusters OZ web site.
Over the coming months, any and all updates, news, info or images relating to the film will be posted here. I'll try to keep you all as filled in as I possibly can. As it stands, we're halfway through the script and it looks like it's going to be one hell of a film.
I'll also very soon be putting up details as to how you can be a part of the film. As everyone knows, film making is expensive. I'm going to be setting up a "Film-maker fund" where people can donate towards the making of the film. Donations of $10 dollars or more will guarantee a place in the credits. More details soon on how you can contribute.
But this is now our site. I'll have a link to the Swashbuckler Studios Site on here, and Vice versa, but this is now the place for All GBOZ news.
Thanks for Visiting!!
