Hello and welcome to Ghi Reptiles!

My name is Matt Lerer and I have been fascinated with reptiles for as long as I can remember. My real introduction to them on a larger scale was in 1989 when I began to search out wholesalers in South Florida in order to see what was available in the trade. I have been captivated by almost every herp imaginable and even to this day seeing new animals is just as exciting as it was years ago.

I have become especially fond of Corallus since first laying eyes on them many years ago and I feel very lucky to be in an area that allows me to actually go through shipments of Corallus whenever they are imported into the country.  My two main interests in the species are Caninus and Hortulanus (Emeralds and Amazons). One reason that I am drawn to them is that they are considered 'tree boas' and they are something that can be easily viewed either during the day or night 'hanging' out on branches in their enclosures.

I have acquired many beautiful animals over the years and have held back animals that I feel have strong traits that not only I find appealing, but traits that I feel other enthusiasts might appreciate as much as I do. I have bred animals with some of these traits that I like and have been lucky enough to have produced beautiful offspring from them. One of my goals is to supply other enthusiasts with the same high quality animals that I believe are natural works of art!

My main focus in the Corallus world is now the Amazons and these are truly incredible animals and I feel that we are in the infancy of discovering what they can create through selective breeding. Please enjoy the site!
