I was surprised to see this article.I have been doing this for a while now.And,you can also create your own unique pick...material/shape and thickness.Also,the edges can be shaped differently at each corner,for a more personal touch.You may want to start off by using a "store-bought"pick(s)and just experimenting with them until you discover a shape that "feels-good" in your fingers,then file the edges down smooth,so they glide across the strings smoothly.Also the material and thickness chosen will affect the tone.

Rare 1930 C.F. Martin OM-45 Deluxe Acoustic Guitar on eBay

According to the eBay auction text, in 1930 the OM-45 Deluxe was the most expensive flat-top offered by C.F. Martin & Company with a retail price of $225 and used by celebrities such as Roy Rogers, the King of the Cowboys (Gene Autry, known as the Singing Cowboy, would become closely associated with the Martin D-45).
