Raised free-to-roam and fed mixed vegetables, a grain mix supplied by a local farmer, and milk (or whey) and supplemented with "wild apples" in the last month of finishing.

 Crossbred sows for heterozygous vitality.

The boar we choose is usually a purebred, commercially raised for the best in meat traits which is passed to the terminal offspring.

Pigs can be difficult to raise and fussy about motherhood. Our  sows are also family pets. Annabelle weighs over 700 lbs and is gentle as a lamb. They both trust people around them and their babies, which makes interaction easy for cleaning and working around.

We allow our sows to 'disappear' into the bush and have their babies 'naturally'. They come back to the farm 4-5 days later with their babies in tow. Sometimes we find their 'hiding spot' but usually we are outsmarted.

We sell some of the piglets at 6 weeks of age and finish the rest for our program.
