1 Year!!!!! April 06-07
We are the Unofficial GameFaqs Clan for Star Wars BattleFront 2 on the PC. We came to be around mid April 2006, meaning we have been around for 1 year already. Meekois was the one that had the idea, and made the 1st post to find members. Initially, approximately 25 members joined us, but that didn’t last. A few of the original members are still around, often with important tasks in the clan as Leaders. Big Boss, then known as Sinty Gypsy, was the 2nd person that joined the clan and the 1st that truly got us moving, Modus Operandi was one of the 1st too, and came around as our main server hoster with his powerful PC specs. Finally, I, Swampsith joined, and along with Big Boss, I was one of the ones that made the 1st rants to get us moving, since we had a slow start. Anyway... End of April, after having stayed on the GameFaqs message boards for our plans and strategies, we moved to a proboards forum where we still are today. Meekois and Modus were at the time, the only “Leaders”, I was given a spot at the top too for all my... motivation and the fact I designed the forums look, and later on, our Website design too. Boss was not so long after given leader status too for his hard work. These are the only 4 of us to have ever had these highest positions, and it still is so today, proving it is quite a stable team, though we do have other members now that are also very important to the clan today.
In May, things sort of started to move on. Meekois had the idea of going for a Space match as our 1st match, against Mojo. which were one of the most active and best clans at the time. But it turned out we took too long to organize this, since a lot of the original members had gone silent and were soon booted from the clan for being totally inactive. We were down to about 10 members then, and by the time we assembled a team and a suitable time for us all, and challenged Mojo., they had already mostly given up this game, and so nothing happened.
In the next 2 months, those being May and June, a new batch of members joined us, most notable, Stinger, then known as IloveYoda, and Revolver Ocelot, then known as Cheese, who showed a lot of talent and enthusiasm to join us, and are now among the clan “Captains” with some more responsibilities. We were still around 10/12 members then, and didn’t really get going until July with our 1st ever clan match. We joined Global Warfighter League, a very good site where we get to fight top clans in ladder formats. So, 1st of July, we had our 1st match up Vs -YV-, a very talented clan that slaughtered us, we having very little preparation. This was also what waked us up I can say, since we then got into more training and teamwork. We established weekly practices during the Summer Vacation period, and it paid off since later in August, we won our 1st match in a 5/5 Conquest game with TAW European. This gave us a great boost, and we continued going on better.
That was basically the start of the clan, and how things picked up. After the Vacations, things changed a bit. During the Summer times, Big Boss was promoted to The Clan Leader by most members and helped us great, but come September, he decided to leave for a go at a job. I was given his position which I still “hold” today. I could go on with all the stories that took place in those months until now, including Boss’ famous (or infamous) series of departures and returns, or our bad clan match losses, our amazing wins also, the rants about how we must get more active, more training, the members that come and go, ...and come back, our members from around the world, the time zone problems, the stupid forum posts, the discovery that I live in France, the great depression(s), the Earth Shattering name changes, the dork member known as Blitz, the aliens that visited us in 2007, the apples and waffles, also the ............ Yeah, ok, well I won’t tell you all that, what I will say is that we are now a well rounded clan, we aren’t the best (yet) but we ain’t the worst either, we work in Conquest and Jedi games, and are trying to get into Space matches too. We have some very good members, and we our very good for being able to compete with other clans that all use TeamSpeak or whatnot, since not many of us have the accessories to do so as of yet. We are also quite well respected; most of our members show the best sportsmanship possible. Thank you to all our members, old and new, sorry if you did not appear in this page, I can’t please everybody but I think it does a good job at outlining our beginnings, our background and progress in this year without going into too much detail. Thanks for spending your time reading, GFAQs is 1 year old already, we all have great friends here, I thank you all for sticking with us or joining us, there are about 25 members now, most are active, which is great! We managed to hold on this long, so let’s go as far as possible.
