Gerakas beach on the southern tip of Zante is one of the most popular beaches on the island and one which is very popular with naturist.
Naturists have been visiting this location since the mid 80's and their numbers are growing each year. In 2004 it was not uncommon to see over 50 - 100 couples on this section of the beach but reports from the summers of 2005 & 2006 say that this number has increased considerably to well over 150 everyday.
It is highly recommended that you arrive as early as possible, between 9am - 10am to get a good spot on the beach and to ensure that it is naturist area for that day, otherwise textiles who don't know the beach plot down any place they can. To access the naturist section simply walk down the slope and turn right and head for the far end of the beach, the naturist section is 200m long or there abouts.
This beach is a turtle conservation area and is protected by law so please respect the beach and remove all rubbish when you leave.
Textile bathers tend to avoid the naturist end of the beach and there is an unofficial line where these two separate.
The beach attracts couples mostly but there has been a growing number of groups to the beach in recent years, families are also starting to make use of Gerakas for naturist sunbathing.
It is best to hire a car or bike to travel to the beach which is located on the southern tip of the island south of Zante Town. Facilities are good with several bars and cafe's close to the main road, tempory toliets are naer the beach head.
