One of the great things about being a freelance artist is having time for commissions. Since any interested parties would inquire about pricing, I thought I'd post a page dedicated to such questions. The guides below will give you something of an idea of what you'd be paying for. I've looked around at what others are charging, and I think my prices are very reasonable.

Most commissions will be done on 8.5" x 11" bristol board. However, larger sizes and other types of paper are available as well. Before you buy, please contact me, as I prefer to discuss the specifics of a project before beginning. Please keep in mind also that I am a penciller and as such I will not be offering fully inked and/or colored pieces in the foreseeable future.

The current wait time for commissions is between 5-6 weeks. If for any reason this changes, I will contact you immediately.


Black and White

8.5" x 11" / 9" x 12"
Basic, single-character pencil sketch (convention style), Price: $20.00

Single-character, fully rendered and shaded in pencils, Price: $30.00

10" x 15 " / 11" x 17"
Basic, single-character pencil sketch (convention style). - Price: $40.00

Backgrounds

Backgrounds need to be discussed when placing your order. Costs for adding a background to a piece depend on what type of background you would like to add (simple or detailed). A very simple, convention style background on 8.5" x 11" would start at $5.00 - $10.00. More detailed backgrounds would start at $25.00. On large paper (10" x 15 " / 11" x 17") the prices for a detailed background would be doubled.

Multiple Characters

As one might expect, these cost more, and as such, should be discussed beforehand. The final charge would depend on the size and placement of the additional character(s). To give you an idea of the price, for 8.5"x11" sized paper add $15.00, and for 11"x17", add $20.00 for each additional character.

Cover Recreations

I have seen other artists offer this service. As a penciller, I cannot offer full recreations, as I do not work in ink or color. I can however, create a pencil drawing based on a cover, if you choose. Cover recreations would be done on large paper or cardstock (10" x 15 "), and would therefore start at $40.00 for a single-character cover-recreation in pencils, assuming there was no background. Most covers however, are much more involved, and would thusly cost more. If you are interested in a cover, please contact me to discuss the details.



Payment

Before I start a commission, I require 50% of the payment up front (this doesn't include shipping, which is discussed later). Once the piece is completed, the remaining 50% is due, plus the shipping/handling cost. I accept both Visa or Mastercard via Paypal. This is the preferred method as it has a reputation for being fast, simple, and secure.

I also accept USPS Money Orders.




Shipping
All domestic packages will ship via U.S.P.S Priority Mail, with insurance optional. The US average is. $4.85 in US Dollars for an envelope up to 9" x 12". (Please contact me for an exact quote. An additional $1.00 will be added, to cover the packaging costs.) If you would prefer First-Class or International shipping, please ask for a price-quote.

Each package will be shipped inside a sturdy Photo-Mailer (which contains two sheets of cardboard to protect against bending). And, if size allows, the artwork will also be placed in a plastic sheet-protector to prevent damage during shipping.
