Facts about MyChart
MyChart is my official countdown for the
week. Ranking is based on points given for each song. Points are given
three times a week using a standard point system depending on the
author's discerment of the appropriate points to be given for a
particular song. Cut off for giving points is every Saturday thus a new
chart for the week will be generated by Sunday.
The very first
number one song, though unofficial since chart records from 2003 was
unrecovered, was 'My Immortal' by Evanescence. The first official
number one song is 'Bright Lights' by Billy Crawford on the first week
of 2005. A song may be given a maximum of 150 points in a week.So far,
6 songs had achieved such points - 'True' by Ryan Cabrera, 'Broken
Sonnet' by Hale, 'Let Me Go' by 3 Doors Down, 'Untitled' by Simple
Plan, 'Gallery' by Mario Vasquez, 'My Love' by
Justin Timberlake feat T.I, 'Broken Strings' by James Morrison and Nelly Furtado, 'Sugar' by Flo Rida feat Wynter, and the latest being 'No Boundaries' by Kris Allen.
There are no limit as to the
longevity of the song on MyChart. Since the creation of MyChart in 2005
(though charting has started in 2004), it has expanded from top10 to
top20 in mid2005, then to top30 in mid2006, then top50 in early 2007
then top75 in mid2007 and back to Top20 in August of 2009. Though a song might only stay for a
few weeks in the chart but points might still be generated until the
author terminates it. So far, the longest stay in chart is for 'S.O.S'
by The Jonas Brothers with 32 weeks in top75. The song's highest position and length of stay in the chart
doesn't affect the position in the year end chart. For example, for
2006 year end chart, 9 out of the top 20 songs didn't make it to the
number one though there were 30 songs which actually made it to the top.
Basis
for song entries are mainly from different charts across the
Philippines and the world. No song in MyChart made its debut without
first appearing on another reference chart. Main chart references are
Myx Hitchart, MTV Philippines video airplay, The Magic 30, Rx Countdown
Top 7, and U.S. Billboard Charts. Other References are charts from The
World Chart, Australia, Great Britain, and Canada.
