Our vision here at Children's Church...

Have you ever heard the story of Daniel? A long time ago, Daniel and his friends, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, were young men who lived in the city of Judah. They were the smartest, most gifted, and best looking guys in all of Judah. Not to mention, they were sons of the nobles! But one day the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, stormed Judah and took Daniel and his friends as hostages. He hoped to raise them so they would serve him as advisors in the future.

Nebuchadnezzar brought them to his palace and ordered them to act as Chaldeans, the people of Babylon. But there was a problem: some of the things the Chaldeans did were against the rules of Judah! For example, Jews were not allowed to eat meat or drink wine, but King Nebuchadnezzer ordered his cooks to feed all the captives meat and wine for every meal.

Daniel and his friends were the only ones who stood up against the order. They asked the cook to feed them vegetables and water for ten days. They told the cook that after the ten days, they would be healthier and stronger than those that ate the meat and drank the wine. After ten days, the cook compared Daniel's group to the others, and they really were stronger! Daniel and his friends had the courage to stand up for what they believed in!

However, they still went through many trials after that. Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah glorified God by refusing to bow down to a statue of King Nebuchadnezzar. The king got angry and tossed them into a fiery flame. With God's help, they walked right out of the fire without even a singed strand of hair! Later on, Daniel was tossed into a pit full of ferocious lions for praying to God. However, God shut the mouths of the lions, and Daniel spent a whole day with the lions without harm. Daniel and his friends are a good example of people who hold onto their faith and don't give in to doing bad things that others are doing.

Our vision at G.C.C.I. is to raise up children to be like Daniel, firm in their beliefs. In today's times, when children are being influenced more and more by peer pressure and the media, our goal is to help them find roots in Jesus instead of their environments. We want our teachings to help them grow in Christ and in their relationships with others. Our wish is to help them discover lifelong roots of faith so they could stand as boldly as Daniel as his friends did. Like a seed that springs into an evergreen, we want to help each child blossom in Christ.
