My cyber-sister HOLLY has been having a crappy week. She's got the pre-Christmas blahs, blog-burnout, and is mourning the one year anniversairy of the death of her good friend Shari. She also tried to set up a new website on HELIUM only to have the whole thing end up in a techno-shit pile. Broken links and frustrating webmasters, she's had ENOUGH... She was ready to freakin' BLOW!
I am writing an appreciation blog about this lovely lady who has come into m life and made me a better man and a kinder person.
She has supported my blog for over 5 years. She always takes the time out of her busy day to comment so beautifully on my blog. She was there when I was going thru hell, sick as a dog and not supoosed to survive
She even "adopted" me after my blood sister and I split for good. She has been more a sister to me than mine ever was, or could be. She also supports so many other people on Bravenet. SO I am bestowing her with this award
the world champion, bestest sister and blog master of ALL TIME!!!! It's an honor to know her and have her in my life. THANK YOU HOLLY!!!! LOVE YOUR BRO
WOW!!! I am in total shock. I JUST WON BLOG OF THE WEEK!!! I almost crapped my drawers. Today I am setting up my new computer and my poor brain is freakin' fried...totally burnt. So winning this award has made my week. YEE-HA!!!
HI! Thanks for dropping by. I'm Shawno the GAYCANUCK and this is my little home on the web.
I have had this website for 7 years and it has gone thru many changes over that time. At one point, when I became ill and all seemed lost, it was the only thing that kept me sane and motivated. I also have a popular blog called www.theINFAMOUS.ca. aptly named for me by a fine young writer from XTRA WEST.
This site and my blog are about my life here in VANCOUVER, CANADA. I am always taking pics and videos of my beautiful city and all of my friends. It's never dull here...and it rains a lot too. I also have a page at www.myspace.com/gaycanuck
where I post my videos. Tho this site can be racy at times, there is some nudity but nothing pornographic. Check back often for local weather, lottery results, gay news, links, horoscopes + my new pics and blogs. Thanks again for visiting.
Vancouver Restaurant and Dining Guide - Dinehere.ca contains restaurant and dining listings including reviews for Vancouver, BC.

NOW WITH SCROLLING NEWS!!!
Today was the ANTI-GAYBASHING RALLY. Hugo a Go-Go & I got to Nelson Park just as the march was about to start. There was a huge crowd... we started down Thurlow Street towards Davie. I saw Insabear there with a gagle of ther bears. It was sort of uncorfortable, but not really that bad. We spoke breifly and then he excused himself without incident. I was impressed with that. I wasn't sure what he might do when we finally saw each other again. He has acosted Hugo a few times at the Pumpjack asking him why I don't call him anymore, or even go to PJ's. It's not because of Insabear I don't go often. Gay bars have NEVER been my gig. I always see the same kinds of dudes hanging out there. I am hoping that today is a new beginning [or at least a tollerable one] with Insa. I'm stilled pissed at him, but I think my distane has subsided somewhat due to being loved and respected so unconditionall by Hugo...and Marc... and Brentage. And realizing I deserve to be. I just don't want to have people in my life that treat me badly, talk down about me and don't appreciate me. The guys in my life NOW show me everyday how much they care for me. It is a first. After dumping my loser-family, I realized I could no longer be anyones whipping-boy. I wasn't put on this planet to a be target for misplaced anger. I just want to be loved unconditionally. That's all. It's simple really. I think this rally is my collective way of saying to anyone out there that thinks they can get away with abusing others, gay or straight, FUCK RIGHT OFF... YOU DON'T HAVE THAT RIGHT... AND YOU NEVER WILL. I was very moved today by all the people who come out and supported this. The young man who was bashed IN A GAY ESTABLISHMENT last week needs all the love and support of his community. I was glad to participate. I took a lot of pics & video. Here are the best of them.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, this is the most beautiful church I have ever seen in Canada. The first pic if of the door so that should tell you how lovely it is. The original church [seen below] is the first St Anne de Beaupre. As the church gained noteriety for healing and worship, it expanded to build the fantastic one I have photographed. They have a memorial to to the people who were healed as show by all the crutches wired to one of the inner posts. The murals were commisioned by a friend of Richards and he painted many of them before he died suddenly last year. Unfortunately he was unable to finish them all. I was just in awe.

It's a beautiful fall morning and I started my week with a nice bike ride along the sea wall with Marc. He callled me this morning and said "let's go for a bike ride"... and I thought "what? are u fuckin' NUTS?!!?" Then I remembered I am on a weight-loss health kick so I decided to go. WHEW! What a workout. My GD big thighs are killing me now... LOL But it was a great time, riding along Coal Harbour, looking at all the sights along the way. We stopped and took some photos at the new Convention Centre and some cool statuary. Saw the $850,000 teardrop statue too! The weather was cool, 13C, with a nice cool breeze coming off the ocean. Every day I thank God I am still alive and made it back here to live my life. I am surrounded by beauty and love, I still can't believe I survived to see it all again. What a gift I was given, and I will never take it for granted... EVER. I am truly living my dream. SOMEBODY PINCH ME!
THIS WEEKEND I BOUGHT A NEW BIKE... It's been over 10 years since I've been on one, and I havta admit I was a bit scared how my first ride would go. Marc and I went for a long ride along the sea-wall starting in my neighbourhood of YALETOWN and the going around the long way. Under the Cambie Bridge, by ScienceWorld, past Granville Island and then over the dreaded Burrard Street Bridge and it's brand new bike only lanes.
I was suprised how stress-free it actually was. HOWEVER going over the bridge was a tad traumatic. A long, up-hill climb then DOWN...
I made it without killing myself [or anyone else] I am however BUSHED! The best cardiovascular exercise I've had in a while. And I've used mucles I forgot existed. Marcus was very patient, as he's and old pro on the do's and don'ts of cycling in this big city. The view along the water was breathtaking, and I found myself thinking about how beautiful it is here, and how lucky am I to be alive... and living here. To have my health back, and the drive to do this. Andtghe best part? EVERYONE who has seen my bike has commented how cool it looks. YEAH! It IS pretty slick... Even the manager of my building commented on it. I'm STOKED! Tri-athalon here I come [NOT!]

Marc wore his leather harnass, brave boy.he looked fuckin' adorable... I just wore a tank top and shorts... Hugo had his orange finery on. We were set for the day! My camera ran out of space on my card so I didn't get it all the way thru. Everyone and their DOG was out... literally.
There were many hot bodies, that's for sure. Especially across from where we were sitting. The entire apt building was just full of studs. We went to the beach afterwards for the tent festival. It was a really fun day. Then Hugo and I went to the OVERHANG BEAR PARTY at the Scotia Bank centre just a block from our places. I got just smashed. We cruised... and drank... and danced...
and drank some more. I flirted my ass off. Anthony and Albert were there, looking hot as usual. I think at one point I grabbed Albert's ass... I can't really remember ...lol
I barely remember coming home, and I woke up still in my chaps and leather vest...yuck... I also "dusted" a bookshelf on my way to bed [read obliterated] I was out cold till 11am... The very next day I went camping...

It was a nice little trip around the local bay area.
We even saw some seals.
Hugo had gotten 3 tickets and gave one to Daryl for his birthday. It was a perfect day. Not too hot, nice breeze... great for pics. We even got a close-up pic of the gas station in the middle of the harbour. I always thought that was unique... very west-coasty.
I wrote a blog about it last year. I saw Tim a few days ago and he said he sent the pics to me and here they are.
A few were taken of Marc on his tractor at work, and some at Cypruss Mountain. There is a pic of Mike, Tim's boyfriend [grrrrrowl] and Marc together up on the mountain. Fuck they're cute. None of Tim however, but suffice it to say he too is a babe.
The other pic is of me and Marc dressed up to go to the Festival of Lost Souls. I was dressed up as a dead miner and Marc as a witch. It was a great night, one of the first "dates" Marc and I ever went on. A friend of Tim's named Margaret went as a witch too, and she looked absolutely flawless... not your typical witch at all.
I remember getting just blotto
and wandering around Commerical Drive. The evening was great, first time I ever took a piss outside
in the middle of a downtown area... LOL I rememeber thinking how lucky I was to be there... alive and enjoying the evening with such nice people. There were parades and people putting on shows in their houses. What a night. It was canceled this year due to funding issues [booooo] but they are supposed to have it next year. I sure hope so. This year I have a whole other night planned... Stay tuned for my next blog and I will fill you in....
Nice place to have a cold one ...
not worrying about him making a scene. He made it impossible to enjoy a cocktail there. Now that he is gone I feel a scense of peace and freedom to be in the West End again.
I took a few pics in the bar, as there wern't too many people there. Hugo a Go-Go and I had a few double gin & tonics, laughed and enjoyed there ambience.
I noticed a guy sporting a hanky. I'm afraid I'm not really in THAT scene, but I love the fact guys are comfortable enough to sport them...I hadta check my code list to see what he was into...EEEEEK! I have had a hanky code posted for years and I thought it was time to repost it on my website/blog. PS On another note...
I'VE LOST 11 POUNDS...YEE-HA!!!

I'm literally too drunk to be bloggin' tonight but I had SUCH a great time I couldn't resist.
Hugo a Go-Go and I went out for a short stroll down Davie Street and ended up at the Pumpjack...
We were only supposted to stay for ONE drink but... 4 cocktails and a shooter later and I finally stumble out of the bar... It was a crazy night. Had my ass crusied off... dudes following me into the bathroom
and a cute dame making the moves on me
[and every other gay boy in the place] She finally hooked up with a dude who could hardly speak a word of English... she was flawless. We sat in the back of the bar... Hugo danced and acted crazy and I sat there enjoying the view. Terrible music...
freaky dudes cruising like there was no tomorrow. WOW... it's been over 2 years sisnce I have been out after dark on a Saturday night. I was giddy as a school girl. I felt so free... NO STALKERS! As you can see from the videos it was a great night.
