HI! Thanks for dropping by. I'm Shawno the GAYCANUCK and this is my little home on the web. I have had this website for 7 years and it has gone thru many changes over that time. At one point, when I became ill and all seemed lost, it was the only thing that kept me sane and motivated. I also have a popular blog called www.theINFAMOUS.ca. aptly named for me by a fine young writer from XTRA WEST. This site and my blog are about my life here in VANCOUVER, CANADA. I am always taking pics and videos of my beautiful city and all of my friends. It's never dull here...and it rains a lot too. I also have a page at www.myspace.com/gaycanuck where I post my videos. Today was the ANTI-GAYBASHING RALLY. Hugo a Go-Go & I got to Nelson Park just as the march was about to start. There was a huge crowd... we started down Thurlow Street towards Davie. I saw Insabear there with a gagle of ther bears. It was sort of uncorfortable, but not really that bad. We spoke breifly and then he excused himself without incident. I was impressed with that. I wasn't sure what he might do when we finally saw each other again. He has acosted Hugo a few times at the Pumpjack asking him why I don't call him anymore, or even go to PJ's. It's not because of Insabear I don't go often. Gay bars have NEVER been my gig. I always see the same kinds of dudes hanging out there. I am hoping that today is a new beginning [or at least a tollerable one] with Insa. I'm stilled pissed at him, but I think my distane has subsided somewhat due to being loved and respected so unconditionall by Hugo...and Marc... and Brentage. And realizing I deserve to be. I just don't want to have people in my life that treat me badly, talk down about me and don't appreciate me. The guys in my life NOW show me everyday how much they care for me. It is a first. After dumping my loser-family, I realized I could no longer be anyones whipping-boy. I wasn't put on this planet to a be target for misplaced anger. I just want to be loved unconditionally. That's all. It's simple really. I think this rally is my collective way of saying to anyone out there that thinks they can get away with abusing others, gay or straight, FUCK RIGHT OFF... YOU DON'T HAVE THAT RIGHT... AND YOU NEVER WILL. I was very moved today by all the people who come out and supported this. The young man who was bashed IN A GAY ESTABLISHMENT last week needs all the love and support of his community. I was glad to participate. I took a lot of pics & video. Here are the best of them.

EAGLE SCULPTURES

First it was dolphins...NOW EAGLES... These eagles have been painted by different artists to raise money for Childrens Hospital. The are displayed all over our beautiful city and will eventually be auctioned off to raise funds for this cause. They are really lovely, and all the hard work that the artists put into them is quite amazing. Here is a little slideshow I made yesterday after a walk around the area with Hugo. There are MANY MORE OUT THERE, I just got shots of the ones in my area. I will post more if I see any other ones. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!

The GAYCANUCK is off for a week on VACATION... Need a bit of a breather, so I am taking a week off to rest and re-coup... When I get back from my break I'll be looking to extend my little family here in Vancouver... I am gonna get a little doggie [like every old gay man does at my age lol] Someone to get me up and attem in the morning... Hugo is VERY excited about that. Marc too. I am going to a rescue shelter to find the perfect mate. This is the first building I've ever lived in that allowed dogs, so I am going to take advantage of that. I'll fill you all in on the details when it ACTUALLY happens. Have a great week everyone S

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, this is the most beautiful church I have ever seen in Canada. The first pic if of the door so that should tell you how lovely it is. The original church [seen below] is the first St Anne de Beaupre. As the church gained noteriety for healing and worship, it expanded to build the fantastic one I have photographed. They have a memorial to to the people who were healed as show by all the crutches wired to one of the inner posts. The murals were commisioned by a friend of Richards and he painted many of them before he died suddenly last year. Unfortunately he was unable to finish them all. I was just in awe.

TODAY WAS THE EASTSIDE PRIDE FESTIVAL... I doned my heat-seeking-stretch-pants, my scrolling text bling [reading "GAYCANUCK" in red LED] and my grill on... met with my bro HUGO A Go-Go and Johnny and went to Grandview Park on Commercial Drive for the party. It was a low-key event. Many tents from Pride sponsor and realted pride wares. Some great music by DJ SHE [Tara]. Met up with 2 cute boys, friends of Hugo. Had a great time, the weather was perfect... Again I took tons o pics and vids. I just my new camera out of the box and learning how to use it. Better quality videos coming soon.

HAPPY CANNIBUS DAY? Yep, that's where we went, to a 420 rally called 'CANABUS' DAY. The largest civil disobiedience gathering in Canada. There were hundreds of people waiting to hear Mark Emery speak before he is extradited to the US for trafficking pot SEEDS. What a fuckin' joke. They really want to make an example of him and the Canadian gov't is playing right into their hands. So at 4:20 pm everyone sparks up a joint and the air is literally blue with pot smoke. Johnny and Hugo had a great time smokin' their brains out... ME? I was just there for support... The old GAYCANUCK gave up smokin' ANYTHING a while back. I don't care if others do, it's just not my gig anymore. I am enjoying my reality right now and don't need anything to medicate myself... LOL I've come a loooooooong way baby! After that we sat and had a picnic and listened to the music they were playing. Just a great afternoon. HAPPY CANADA/CANNIBUS DAY EVERYONE!

Today Hugo a Go-Go and I went to the Ovaltine Cafe for breakfast before going to get Hugo's glasses perscription filled. He had a great set of orange frames already, so now he has to wait to get the lenses put in. They're really cool. After that we went shopping at the ARMY & NAVY to find something for Marc's birthday [tomorrow] I founds some nice overalls for him as well as some candy. I remembered to take my camera this time. It's really hot today. 30C by days end... I'm just dragging my ass.

WHAT'S NEW?

NEW Infamous Blog I am in the process of updating and revamping my websites. I have 2 "dudes" in my life right now after a bad break-up with my last one. I'm not doing the traditional "boyfriend" trip anymore. I moved into new digs last July and I am loving it. It's located in the downtown core of Vancouver. I live in the same apratment building as my BBF of 25 years. I am starting my homebased business up again after taking a few years off due to illness.. I am currently working on the websites and business plan.
