Dukes Creek Falls

This spectacular waterfall is located North of Helen off Russell Scenic Highway. To get there, drive through Helen and go left (1.2 miles from the center of town) onto 75 alt. Make a right onto 348, or Russell Scenic Hgwy. Dukes Creek is on the left and entrance fee is $2.

A wooden walkway carries you through the trees to stairs leading down to the trail. The walk is an easy one, on a well-maintained, gradual downhill, switchback trail.

The trail ends in another wooden walkway with three viewing decks with benches.

Here's a shot from the lower viewing deck. Duke's Creek Falls are very spectacular, but they are somewhat difficult to photograph from the decks. I would not suggest leaving the trail or decks though, as the fine is $500.

Notice the tree trunk that looks like a lion staring over the cliff edge.

Dukes Creek has one large waterfall to the left, then spreads itself out into numerous cascades. This makes you feel like you're surrounded by waterfalls, and the sound is incredible.

This series of falls is beautiful anytime of day, but for the best pictures visit on an overcast day or later in the afternoon.
